NFL: Kansas City Chiefs Thread

I am saying something is going on, play calling, like of production, silly mistakes and penalties, dropped passes and everything else. I cannot remember the Chiefs having star players throwing helmets and going off on the refs until this year. In the end, none of it matters, they are toast this season, even if they get into the playoff, they are not going to go very far, so now the question becomes, how do they improve the team to make sure that this season is not repeated next season?
you realize that cc was there today trading jerseys with rice so maybe she taught them how to act. lol. am a chiefs fan so not sure what is going on.

@ me next time.

The random hate for taylor Swift is just stupid and deserves the dumbs. Says more about the people obsessing over it honestly. If this team has problems because Kelce is dating Swift then this team has bigger problems
Bundling home and auto is not the problem, nor is Kelce dating Swift.

Playing Clyde Edwards Helaire might be a problem. Penalties might be a problem. Not having a strong WR corps might be a problem. Imagine if the Chiefs had a competent WR this year, instead of Helaire? Just one.

Let's face it, Mahomes has not had his best year either. He is making a lot of mistakes that are tough to recover from.

While no WR drops today, I'm not sure I've ever seen Mahomes with more time than he have today, not even attempt a downfield pass. Almost everything today was dumpoffs for completions. Not one single scramble drill that ended up with an open WR. Only had the Richie James deep play. Not a single 10-15 yard completion that is normally the staple of the offense with time to throw. (I know Mahomes had 5 sacks today, but most of them coverage sacks). Just zero seperation in the secondary at all. Completely have wiffed on 2-3 draft classes of WR's after Tyreek and finally paying the price.

KC's RT gets an early start almost every snap.
He makes something like 80 mil/year so maybe he feels like he can get away with it? Perhaps if he was a little lighter afoot and more talented, he might be worth that contract.

He is not worth that contract.

Travis Kelce is showing his age, mileage.
The offensive tackles are horrendous, that Jawaan Taylor contract is so bad.
The WR corp might be the worst in the league at getting open.
Where is our 2023 first round pick???
The offense misses Eric Bienemy’s no-nonsense, tough coaching.
CEH might be the second most trustworthy receiver right now…
Stop and think if they just drafted LaPorta instead of, remind me, who again?

I'm playing almost as much as their first round pick.

Not sure if anyone on the Chiefs can even run go routes.

Did you see Cleveland's openly play?

Joe Flacco!!!! did a play action deep pass to Cooper.

Worked perfectly.

Set the tone for the entire game.

Reid and Mahomes want to make Ferentz jealous of how often they can throw horizontal passes.

Deandre Hopkins would have done wonders for this offense. Unfortunately the Chiefs lowballed him and decided to roll with a 34 year old tight end surrounded by a bunch of WR3s and WR4s on any other team.

Kelce has been fairly open about how he’s constantly thinking about retirement. Would not surprise me if this is his last year
I think he'll play one more year. He's 34 and it's clear his body is breaking down. People blaming T-Swift apparently don't realize he's been in the league for over a decade. He's hurt worse than he or anyone in the organization will admit. I'm not sure if his low back or what.

I’ve had some fun this year poking the bear in regards to this whole Swift business, but he is definitely not himself. Mahomes is starting to let his frustration show towards everyone and it’s just creating the mess we all saw today

The thing of it is, if this is the end of the Chiefs run as the cream of the NFL crop, it's not a failure. NFL runs end, and theirs has been fantastic. The modern era of New England is an absolute anomaly.
It's might be the end of the run with this nucleus. I highly doubt that Mahomes and Reid are going to permanently slide into mediocrity just because they aren't gonna get the 1# seed this year. Brady won titles with 3 different groups.

Mahomes looked *terrible* today. He flat out refused to throw to wide open receivers multiple times. Hard to have drops when you aren't thrown the ball.

Mahomes can't win on his own. He's going to have to throw to these mooks whether he likes it or not, lol

It's turned into a mental game now. First the drops and poor route running and now Patrick is over thinking and trying to make plays instead of taking what is there.
They need the running game with Pacheco but with him getting a concussion yesterday, things aren't looking good.

The problem is... I don't know how we fix our problems.

Jawaan Taylor is locked into a horrible contract for multiple years.
For every hit like Trent McDuffie, Brett Veach has had some massive whiffs like FA-U (above).
What do you do with Chris Jones?
What do you do with Joe Thuney?
Need to get it right at Left Tackle!
MVS has a cap hit of $14M next year!! Dead cap is $2M. He's gone.
Trade for someone like Kyle Pitts?
WRs hitting free agency are weak overall. Probably can't afford best ones like Tee Higgins, Calvin Ridley.

Did we watch the same game??

I didn't even mention signing our own guys to second contracts...

L'Jarius Sneed
Willie Gay
Mike Danna
Creed Humphrey
Nick Bolton
Trey Smith

MVS Cut
Sneed, Humphrey, Bolton re-signed.
All else let walk, along with Chris Jones.
Some good WR are going to be available in free agency.
Draft TE, WR, and DT early in draft.

Mahomes may need to agree to restructure his contract to clear up some space. If he's frustrated with the lack of talent on offense then something will have to give in order to retain the guys that protect him and still be able to upgrade LT and WR. I don't see how they can keep Jones even on a 1 year tag. Just too much money tied up to do that. Danna and Gay would be 2 guys I'd like back too especially if Jones walks but the money will be tight to retain guys probably. The Taylor contract is just brutal. The dead cap money is more affordable after next season but their best hope is they can work with him in the offseason to correct the issues he's had.
