49ers - Brock Purdy - Still and Always #1

Vs the Bengals maybe you could say that because he put up a lot of yards but threw two picks. He wasn’t good against MN in the second half. 272/1/2 isn’t a good game statistically. A little bit above his yardage average, but 2 picks negates a lot of yardage.

Vs Cleveland was a struggle.

In the wins he has 26 TD and 2 Int
In the losses he had 3 and 5.

Against Cincy and MN CMC had 118 and 96 scrimmage yards. Not quite up to his usual but not too bad.
McCaffery was playing hurt too if I remember correctly And Deebo was out with an injury. Take CeeDee Lamb and Tony Pollard away from Dak...how do you think he'd fare?

Consider that last year Purdy, as a rookie, was the talk of the NFL with what he did on the field...he really should had won Rookie of the Year...even if he played only a 1/3 of the season...this was the guy who people talked about last year...not the Jets WR...or Seattle's WR. It was Purdy who made the most impact as a rookie and should have probably won it. No offense to the other gentleman who had good seasons.
And now look at what Brock is doing this year. And what's their justification to rob him out of an MVP award? He's just a system QB...or, look at all his weapons he has...while true, he's still putting up the numbers of an MVP QB and should be rewarded as such. But we'll see what will happen or how they'll justify not giving it to him...

Trent Williams was also hurt in that losing streak. We had a FG to win against Cleveland at the end. The rookie kicker missed. Just a lot of things. Most teams don't go through undefeated. So I wouldn't worry about it that much.

It's the difference in perception.

Highly ranked QB: What a great throw into a tight window!
Low ranked QB: Wow, he got away with one there!
Dan Patrick’s evaluation is that Brock had to ”throw people open at Iowa State” where he doesn’t have to with the 49ers. Kinda laughed about that as Dan probably watched about one Iowa State game while Brock was there.

But throwing people open is exactly what he is doing when we talk about the YAC everyone seems to want to ding him on. When you are putting the ball in the right place/right time vis-a-vis the defense you create YAC when there might not be any with just an adequate throw.

Yes and no. CMC and Kittle are tackle breaking machines but he does lead his receivers very well.

Nice listen from John Walters and David Lombardi on Purdys career to date and discussion generally about the 9ers. Decent listen if you have the time to kill.

Lombardi LOVES Purdy. I'm sure it's very complimentary of him.

Putting $2000 on Purdy to win MVP in July is just insane. Balls.
Is it really though? I mean how many times has a qb won it over the past 20 years? you have how many starting qbs in the league and how many on teams with the offensive fire power that purdy has? Might be ballsy but honestly the odds that that individual was getting were darn good comparatively
