49ers - Brock Purdy - Still and Always #1

And that is what some talking heads are using to lift CMC as the MVP however, in the games vs the vikings and bengals Purdy had statistically good games apart from the turnovers (which is a problem, but every qb throws them) however CMC had some of the worst games statistically he has had the whole season also.

Vs the Bengals maybe you could say that because he put up a lot of yards but threw two picks. He wasn’t good against MN in the second half. 272/1/2 isn’t a good game statistically. A little bit above his yardage average, but 2 picks negates a lot of yardage.

Vs Cleveland was a struggle.

In the wins he has 26 TD and 2 Int
In the losses he had 3 and 5.

Against Cincy and MN CMC had 118 and 96 scrimmage yards. Not quite up to his usual but not too bad.

If The Athletic is going to have GAPING HOLES in their paywall, I'm not going to feel bad about copy-pasting a single paragraph.
No worries here, I wasn't trying to say you shouldn't have done it. My intent was that I agreed and sent the same to some others.

I agree but that is also the game he got concussed in (didn't practice the entire next week) and still had lingering effects the following week.

Vs Cleveland was a struggle. Yes he played a terrible game vs cleveland.

In the losses he had 3 and 5.

There are a lot of 49ers fans around the country because they had a big run there in the 80's and 90's. So if people were growing up at that time a lot were 49ers fans. Because kids often like the real good team and follow it. They also have cool uniforms. The red and gold just looks really good. Compared to say the Browns who have an ugly uniform. Yes kids really choose teams like this.

The Cowboys always marketed like Americas team and would go into places next door like New Mexico. Who didn't have a team and said Dallas and TX teams are your team. Then they expanded it out to many other states. The built a big following. That was actually a goal of one of the previous owners. Not sure about Jerry Jones. But they used to market that way on purpose under a prior owner. Probably for merchandise sales. They just wanted to build a bigger following and it worked.

I don't know. The Jim Brown jersey is pretty smooth

The best part:

And Purdy and Haliburton believe that each represents the essence and highest point of something they love: the Iowa State ethos.

“I think that’s the best part about it, to be honest,” Haliburton said.“ I think something that me and Brock both share is we both really love our university. Brock was there for four years; I left after two, but my dog’s named Ames. I really embody Iowa State. Both of our girlfriends went to Iowa State with us. We both love the university. We share that bond, and it’s cool to see us having success because I think we both love going back, love going to Ames, and we’re proud of our university and it’s something that they’ll be able to use in recruiting and stuff … that we’re having success at the professional level. It’ll help get kids there because, obviously, as kids, we all want to play at the professional level, the highest level. It’s cool that our school gets to use that.”
We are lucky that two great athletes/HUMAN BEINGS, found there way to Ames!

Were those the post concussion games where he wasn't still quite right it seemed.

I haven't watched the last few. Chase Daniel does better evaluations IMO.

JT O'Sullivan tries to put PLUS and MINUS in every single video. Some good and some bad just to balance out his videos. No matter how good the performance. So Brock especially lately has been performing out of this world. Multiple 4 TD, 0 interception games. JTO looks for minor nit pick flaws even in a great game to put something negative in the video. That's just his style.

Honestly Chase Daniel will just call it more as he sees it. If it's great he will just call it great. If he finds a problem he will say it but won't nit pick minor things to try to find some negative things to put in the video which JTO regularly does. Which is why I sometimes find him more annoying.
Both are fine. When someone asks - like someone did about a page upthread - is Purdy near his best or does he have room to grow, they need only watch JT's videos. He balances pointing how great Brock is playing while also highlighting what Brock can do to improve his game. I can guarantee that Brock doesn't want to hear how great he is doing all the time. He wants to hear what the next things are that he needs to work on to improve and help his team to win.

Honestly after watching years of Jimmy G and Alex Smith prior where they were helpless to throw beyond 20 yards downfield this is spectacular. Brock hits with great accuracy 35 - 50. I've seen him hit many 40, 45 yard shots with pure accuracy. Right on the fingertips in full stride away from the defender.

I have no idea what's wrong with that? So he doesn't throw 70 yards. So? That's a low percentage play anyway for even those rare few who can do it.

I would have thought I died and went to heaven as a 49ers fan for an accurate thrower of 35, 40, 45, 50 yards. Yes that is STRETCHING the field. You can stretch it like that.

:)
Trust me Cyclone fans also feel like we have died and gone to heaven - legitimate MVP candidates in both NFL and NBA?! I never would have dreamt that as a student at ISU 35 years ago.
