Prohm always loved point guards, so maybe he could find us a QB. Campbe;ll was building up Becht having a great game when he threw two interceptions and fumbled the ball three times. The Okies will eat him up and spit him out—1-11 and kissing the basement floor.
OSU is like one of our only realistic chances at a conference win. I sure hope we can show up and win somehow. Don’t have a great feeling about it obviously no matter how bad OSU is this year

The perpetual hype train has ingrained meaningless buzz phrases like “there’s talent there” in to the rube brain.

Another sign you’re a fan since 2017 and don’t know rot.

Saying there is a lack of talent is different than saying there is rot.

If there wasn’t talent to avoid making Ohio look significantly better than Iowa on defense, you wouldn’t be starting threads about rot.

Ohio was more of the same from the last 7 years. Recall a game like UNI in 2019, in which our offense was marginalized by a staff with a bad scheme.

This is like judging whether a player can defend under Prohm.

I like the correlation you are making here, however damning it might be. I think I agree.

I do also think there is talent on the roster. These guys have a track record of bringing talent to Ames, some of the best talent to ever play at Iowa State in fact. Right now that talent is 1) young and underdeveloped, and 2) being horribly misused. The only position where I question talent is the OL. Even there, it is probably more an issue of poor scheming and/or teaching from the coaches both past and present.

Rot? No.
Reality? Probably.

Like WVU, ISU isnt in a state with tons of recruits, plus it may not be able to compete for the top players bc TCU and Taco Tech have more NIL money.

MC did extremely well when he had talent, especially Brock under center and maybe the best tight end ive seen, Throw in a couple of NFL rbs and a NFL wr, and combined with a tough as nails defense, MC led ISU to a fiesta bowl victory.

Im not sure saban could win with ISU's current roster. When you cant run on a mac team, youj got nothing going for an oline. You are not winning many games without a good oline.

There was a graph showing how many NFL draft picks WVU had prior to NB--it was a lot. For a stretch of a few years WVU was 2nd only to OU in draft picks, and many were in the 1st round.

2022 was the 1st year WVU had zero draft picks in a very long time, and NB has had only 4 in his 5 years at WVU. to be fair, WVU had a few but they got stolen by Georgia, Maimi, fsU, lsu and others who paid more NIL.

NB said he had a top 10 defense in 2020 and lost 7 starters to the NIL portal.

point being,

Yeah I've thought about this some because I was a pretty ardent PR supporter for too long. While I'll be the first to tell you that right now you can't afford to have a bad football program I'll also say that no matter who you hire there's going to be a fairly significant chance they stink too and with transition costs I think you do have to give the guy a lot more leash because he has had success. I'm as down as anyone but there's a tightrope to walk here and these are the reasons JP gets paid a lot of money. This isn't easy to navigate if this season is a 1 or 2 win season. There will be a lot of people that want change and historically those people haven't brought the wallet with their ******** so it makes it a really tough spot.
Pollard is under absolutely NO pressure to do anything. Short of CMC pulling a Tucker, they are one big happy family from the U president on down.

I know a loss to a MAC team when I see one, Copemaster.

Seems like we’re getting the grieving stage of “Results don’t matter”. Classic.

They're saying that even with a ton of talent, we only go out and beat a UNI team in OT and probably should've lost. This isn't a talent issue. It's not even an experience issue. It's a full offensive scheme and play calling issue and it's on Matt Campbell.

I am sympathetic you’re coping with your first awful season by screaming “rot”.

But it’s not rot.

Simply more of the same, you were just fooled by some NFL guys on that side masking that CMC’s offense is prohibitive to maximizing roster upside

A lot of good in CMC’s program, but it is a fire-worthy flaw if it’s not corrected very soon

And that's why I withdrew my support years ago.

It's about the fans. Always about the fans. They're your customers.

ISU doesn't deserve the fans it has considering performance.

JP can leave too if he wants.

You are the one making him the lame duck. I think he gets 2 maybe 3 years at minimum.
If this season continues to tank and we win 1 or 2 more games CMC will have 2024 to right the ship and if not then it will be over. I believe after that the buyout drops significantly so Pollard could make the change then.

Possible. Hope Campbell gets the Offense going. If he doesn’t then it may be over. Gonna hate seeing Heacock’s Defense leave.

Some of these folks have to be SOOOOO pissed we won today

Certainly happy we won, but lets not act like we beat a great (or even mediocre) team today or that the same massive flaws (and stubbornness trying to force the run game when it wasn't working) weren't there for much of the game. All the things that Campbell was being criticized for remained pretty valid in this game.

I don't think anyone thought we'd lose to OSU. They are worse than UNI. An ISU team headed for even 5 wins would have won this game by 20. I'd like to see a bigger sample size of our QB. I seem to remember Sam Richardson looking good at first too.
