Who cares if people transfer off of garbage teams? Do you know how ineffective CMC will be at recruiting and coaching if everyone knows he's a lame duck coach?
You are the one making him the lame duck. I think he gets 2 maybe 3 years at minimum.

We were a 27 point favorite to Florida AM at home. Saturday was bad. It wasn't to that level bad. You're insufferable more than anything else.
That being written I don't think you're necessarily wrong on this, although I hope you are.
Yesterday has the same feeling of the infamous basketball loss to Florida A&M that was the beginning of the end for Steve Prohm.
You can make all the sly remarks about the record all you want, but no way does Pollard fire him at the end of the year if we do not win another game. What have you seen from Pollard that shows he has a quick fuse and is willing to fire a coach that he hired without at least giving him plenty of chances of turn the situation around? Chizik won 5 games in two years, and Pollard was going to give him a contract extension, Proem had plenty of time to fix the problem.
It seems to be fair to point out that we are only getting sacked on 1.2% of all drop backs. Rushing for 86 yards per game is abysmal but the pass blocking hasn't been terrible.Look guys were leading the world in 1 score losses and least amount of sacks given up through 3 games where we barely even ran any plays! What bowl does that get us to?
Yeah, Saturday was every bit as bad. At least against Florida A&M, ISU broke 60 points. You do realize that ISU had one score on Saturday, against a MAC team...We were a 27 point favorite to Florida AM at home. Saturday was bad. It wasn't to that level bad.
But by giving Rhoads those final 2 or 3 years proves exactly what I am saying, Pollard does not have a quick finger on firing coaches, he lets them reach the point where they are buried before he pulls the trigger. ISU just does not have the money say a Nebraska does and is not willing to can a coach quickly.Yes, Pollard wasted 2 (possibly 3) extra years on Rhoads. Maybe he learned something about the death spiral from that.
*Whispers* Mine would be Jay HarbaughIt’s not realistic CMC gets fired but my replacement would be Golesh.
Losing to a MAC team is embarrassing but that Ohio team is infinitely better than the A&M Rattlers were. That loss was the 2nd worst loss in NCAA history. Was #1 but thanks to Iowa last year we no longer carry that burden.Yeah, Saturday was every bit as bad. At least against Florida A&M, ISU broke 60 points. Yeah I've thought about this some because I was a pretty ardent PR supporter for too long. While I'll be the first to tell you that right now you can't afford to have a bad football program I'll also say that no matter who you hire there's going to be a fairly significant chance they stink too and with transition costs I think you do have to give the guy a lot more leash because he has had success. I'm as down as anyone but there's a tightrope to walk here and these are the reasons JP gets paid a lot of money. This isn't easy to navigate if this season is a 1 or 2 win season. There will be a lot of people that want change and historically those people haven't brought the wallet with their ******** so it makes it a really tough spot.Yes, Pollard wasted 2 (possibly 3) extra years on Rhoads. I doubt we’d hire a guy with his only HC experience coming from his dad getting suspended though. The OC for CU is intriguing as well. Was the HC of Kent State last year. Sean Lewis*Whispers* Mine would be Jay Harbaugh
Rooting hard for Campbell to turn it around, mostly because of what it means for the Iowa State football program if he doesn't. Ames officially becomes a place where head coaching careers go to die, and sustained success is as close to impossible as it gets. He has lost me, but he hasn't lost my support.Yeah I've thought about this some because I was a pretty ardent PR supporter for too long. Given that the bolded would happen to transpire this year...when a coach is 8 years into his tenure and follows up a 4-win season with a 2-win season (which would be a 9-7-4-2/1 trajectory in the case of Campbell, and considering that the 7 that followed the 9 occured with a seasoned team of virtually the same players as the previous year), it seems pretty clear that whatever caused the previous success is gone...wheels are off. Past success means little at that point; it's time to evaluate why the program is where it is, and determine if the current coach has the ability to turn it around. At that point, IMO, it's no riskier to bring in a new coach than to continue on with the current coach.Yeah I've thought about this some because I was a pretty ardent PR supporter for too long. I don't necessarily disagree with that. I just happen to think it's not likely JP makes that move and I understand that side as well. One caveat I would throw in there is that if that were to happen on the back of a really good defense and poor offense like we've had, there better be a pretty good plan for remaking the offense. This "get better at doing what we're doing" stuff has to be gone and we have to find something we can do. I think we're asking the offense to win in really tight margins across the board. We're asking for a lot of difficult blocks to be made, small holes to be hit, and small windows to be thrown into. Like, just run that last TD series on the first series of the game. Just try it. When it's 2nd and 8, take a shot down the field. I'm not going to ***** about that stuff but when we hit 2nd and 8 and presumably try to run the ball so we can get to like 3rd and 4 for the 15th time in the game my blood starts boiling.Given that the bolded would happen to transpire this year...when a coach is 8 years into his tenure and follows up a 4-win season with a 2-win season (which would be a 9-7-4-2/1 trajectory in the case of Campbell, and considering that the 7 that followed the 9 occured with a seasoned team of virtually the same players as the previous year), it seems pretty clear that whatever caused the previous success is gone...wheels are off. It’s around this point that I remember that entertainment is supposed to bring feelings of delight while distracting me from things I ought to be doing.Exactly this. Do we re-start the climb up the hill, or keep walking down the stairs on the backside of the high point? Every step we take down on the backside is another 2 years down the drain.
