Not exactly sure.
I was just looking at the Googles yesterday wondering when the last concert in Trice was and lamenting missing a couple in the early 90's in my college days thinking there'd be lots of other concerts to go to
Well, break out the old stonewashed tattered jeans and cut up GNR shirt with your Reeboks, it's concert time buddy!!

Someone mentioned this a little bit ago, they also said "supposedly will sell alcohol and use it as a test run to sell during games."

I'm curious how this benefits the AD and if this is a sign we start seeing more in Jack Trice and Hilton.
The AD has ownership, or at least management, of all the Iowa State Center. They at minimum get a nice rent check off this.

EDIT: It also pulls business into the cytown area and keeps those guys making money during what would be a normally slow time.

Very exciting that ISU was able to pull something like this off. Wild to see Ames listed on the tour schedule next to cities like Atlanta, Chicago, and Las Vegas.

Feels like something Yormark would do (I know there used to be concerts in JTS lot in the past), except these are better than any of the musical acts Yormark has brought in for Big 12 events.
