I've wondered, why can't they play in Suns arena? Maybe not setup for ice but you'd assume they could remodel?
They used to play there. It has the same problem Hilton Coliseum has for hockey. Basically you can't have seats behind one of the goals. There just isn't enough interest in the Coyotes to do a remodel. The Suns don't want them there either.

The AZ Coyotes don’t have a home in PHZ any longer. They could play at the Sprint Center….
You know, I wonder how appealing the now TMobile Center would be to attracting a pro tenant like the Coyotes. The arena is already 15 years old. You wouldn't be sharing it with am NBA team which is nice. But KC is also a smaller pro market. I don't think there is a market smaller than KC with 3 teams between the NFL, MLB, NBA, and NHL.

Las Vegas is close with the A's coming to town.

Las Vegas probably has better population growth

I think half the attraction of Vegas is that it can be a easy road trip for the other team. Flights to Vegas are usually reasonable from anywhere I believe. Sports and gambling just go together it seems.

Yeah, Vegas is unique in a lot of regards.

It looks like Cleveland may actually be the closest comparison. Almost the same size metro area and the have NFL, MLB, and NBA.

KC would support the hell out of a hockey team. There was a lot of smoke with the last NHL expansion. T Mobile Center needs a main stay, hockey makes the most sense IMO

The Pittsburgh metro has about 100k more people than KC(2.3 vs. 2.2). Don't forget KC has MLS and it's huge there too. KC has always been a good sports town. Cincinnati, KC, Cleveland, and Pittsburgh have near identical populations in their metro's. Buffalo has 2 major franchises with only 1.6 million in the metro. One good thing about whoever get's the Coyotes is the ownership group won't have to pay a ridiculous expansion fee the same way Vegas had to so relocation is a MUCH cheaper path.

KC is a good sports town and I can see hockey working there for sure.

But if you're moving a team and Houston is sitting out there.

7.3 million in the msa. Hockey in Texas has proven to work. Growth in the SunBelt.

Hard to not go in that direction

The Royals beating the drum for at least 10 years about wanting a new downtown stadium.

Also the Royals now pitching a new stadium in North KC.

This franchise is a mess on so many levels.

I’m resigned to the fact that the Royals will get a new stadium, but it still absolutely sucks. At the very least, it needs to have the crown scoreboard and fountains (which it looks like they added this go around).

I’m extremely interested to see this economic data and how they are going to completely lie about what it’s going to do for payroll.
Build a new stadium or move the ******* team. That's where I'm at. It's a triple-A team financially now so it doesn't even benefit baseball anyway so just move it. Youre nuts if you don't think that puts the Royals in a better position financially and in the future.
