Basketball recruiting update

through an assistant coach? IF this is true (which I'm not sure it is) it could be very bad, sounds like a commitment would coming along with it...

One other thing...this usually isn't the time of year where you see commitments.

How do you surprise a coach? Doesn't he need help getting into any building...let alone a game?
I am a duke fan. That part about the surprise comes from an article. It basically said that he's coming down for the game without K's knowledge.

I don't think that it guarantee's a commitment or anything. The last few recruits we've had in for this game have gone elsewhere. Hopefully we'll change the result on the floor tonight and that will change the result off the floor.

A commitment at this time would seem to go against pretty much everything that Barnes has said. I think this is a case of not being able to pass up a great opportunity to see a game of this magnitude in a great venue more then anything.

This rumor has been floating around the internet for weeks. Rumor was that Barnes was flying down on Duke's private jet to go to the UNC game.

I would hope that if he wants to commit he does it soon regardless of where it is so the other teams can get a move on, especially ISU.

Another thought I have had about an opening in a scholly was with Dykstra. I haven't hear much on him latley but I remember hearing a few months ago that we may have not even gotten the best on his 1A hs team with Heemstra proving to be something. I know its not the best move to get rid of a scholly for a kid but maybe McD knows he may have to do it if there is that much of a talent difference between him and Ejim since he may not be here much longer... Again this could be way off base but maybe a possibility that McD hints to Dykstra he may be better off in a smaller conference.

Dykstra is a top 150 kid (106) and #28 among power forwards. I hardly doubt GMAC would hint to him that he'd be better off in a smaller conference.

he gone...i think we should really start to press Ejim, we need him

Just looked at the espnu prospect ratings. In comparing Colvin to Buckley, they seem to have similar rankings. Why are expectations so high for Colvin?

Because he has not played here yet and the ISU fan base likes to build everyone up and then tear them down. Much like the media in general.

If I was being recruited by Duke and UNC I'd be there as well. The fact that he's going should surprise nobody. Hopefully he's bored out of his mind during the game.

All Iowa Attack prefers that Barnes goes to Duke over North Carolina. Comment was that Barnes would get lost in the N.C. free flowing offense and needs to be in a controlled offensive system such as Duke or Florida. No comments made about Barnes and Iowa State. Honestly felt that the coach I talked with did not have any idea which way Barnes was leaning.

What was evident is the fact they want Barnes to go where his skills fit in best with the system the university runs.

All Iowa wants him to go somewhere big so they can get national recognition. I dont blame them for that.

I know that McDermott blames Sullivan for the fact that Barnes didn't commit early on after ISU offered him
