Do you use a deadbolt? If not, you should.

Looked at both front and back doors and both have deadbolts. Probably going to lock the deadbolts going forward. Plus side also for doing this is you need to lock a deadbolt from outside so making sure you have your keys is even more important.

Also hiding a spare key outside the house as well.

But now that this has happened to me the OCD in me will have me checking 4 or 5 times that I have them on me before leaving the house.

Went to my sons baseball game tonight. He’s a freshman so it’s JV, and he is the only one who will catch so he’s stuck there. Did fine but we stick around for the Varsity every game anyhow since he sits on the bench as an emergency player.

Well, come 6th inning of Varsity I notice we have a pitching change, try to figure out who it is. Hey that kid looks familiar. Guess they decided to throw him in at pitcher since the game was kinda out of reach and we have 4 games in 4 days. First time ever in a varsity baseball game ever. Pitched 2 scoreless innings with a nasty curveball nobody knew he had, don’t think he even knew it. Not much speed but his 12-6 breaks extremely hard. That was actually fun.

Sometimes you don’t know what someone can do until you give them a shot. We still won’t talk about his batting though.

Speaking of not knowing what someone can do, our internet crashed yesterday. I think it’s the modem so I go buy a new one and all new lines for it. Spend a bunch of time with mediacom and realize that it’s probably not a modem issue. Can’t come until Thursday afternoon I’m told. After lunch today I get home and I’m ticked. I went to that big terminal box they have in yards, happens to be in ours. I rip the cover off and mess with the wires some, come in and wifi is rolling. Now I get to return the new modem.

WCTA made their way to your neck of the woods?

If so I'd drop Mediacom like a bad habit in favor of them. Honestly, the best ISP I've experienced - pricing, reliability, internet speeds, customer service (granted MC, CenturyLink, and Comcast aren't a real "who's who" of customer service/experience).

My nephew's husband has a doctorate in oboe. His quote about learning to play the oboe is “I played and played until I didn’t sound like a duck.”

Not that good but my niece played oboe in college, no doctorate though. Just a dual major in accounting and music piano emphasis.
Weird that this thread has that many people who know oboe players.

Is that Woolstock? I was just out of their range, luckily the local phone coop got permission to install fiber, it took all of a hot minute for me to sign up for that and drop Frontier.

Channel 9 has a clip about speeding on Williams Blvd said even cops were doing it, 40 in a 35, pfffft. Now the dude doing 50 deserves to be in trouble.

That's me and the garage door. I'll turn around and drive by just to double check that it's down. I've even taken a picture of it when taking off for a few days lol

Well, they are who I grew up with and have at the farm. They were supposed to be one of our options after they got okayed for a rural comm grant, but a different company who was not supposed to come into our area started burying wire without asking. WCTA said they didn’t think a fourth option would work and didn’t develop our area of town so they are about a block and a half away from me in a couple directions but I can’t use them.

Yeah - I didn't mention that one of our granddaughters started on clarinet, switched to bass clarinet, and has now picked up oboe. She's one of those peeps that can just pick up an instrument & play it. She just finished 7th grade. Who knows what she'll be playing when she graduates. :D

It does scare me that someone could open our door with a simple pairing knife.
Several years ago I was heading to do chore and I saw an older lady out walking on the road, she lives just down the road from where I was at. it was a nice day so didn't think anything of it. She strolls in a little bit later and was so thankful she saw me and asked if I could break into her house because she locked herself out. She said it shouldn't be too hard because she had a window open but she couldn't reach it. Sure enough the window was open but it was 8 feet off the ground so I hopped up and pushed the screen in and unlocked her door.

Enjoying your stay in our wonderful metropolis? I would offer to meet up but this week has been a **** show. LittleWx has been sick and let's just say he is very dramatic when it comes to not feeling well.

Fiber came through here. They laid it to all 6 houses on our lane. We looked into it, but it was nearly double what we were paying mediacom. Our speed is fast enough for us old farts.

Sure beats having to make a long distance call on the modem to hook up to the internet in Ankeny like we we would have had to do in the early days. Huxtel didn't have their own servers at first, and the only places that were NOT long distance calls from Huxley were Kelley & Slater. The fourth town in Ballard school district, Cambridge, was a long distance call. That was fun when the boys wanted to call schoolmates in the afternoon. But I digress...

To get to the internet, you not only paid for your online time by the minute, you also paid by the minute for long distance calls to Ankeny. The boys thought we were horrible because we told them that it simply wasn't in our budget to hook up to the internet until they brought the cost down. Huxley finally put in their own server and the boys forgave us.

Ndubs has a reserved chair at Woodys is the word. When you are as smooth with the ladies as he is, he’s never alone.
