I think Tuba would be a better instrument.
My sister played the oboe. Definitely the oboe.

An oboe is a perfectly good instrument but in the hands of a novice, look out - excruciating.

Take this up about two octaves, double the volume and stretch it out for an hour a day and you've got about 10% of the cringe factor.

I think it can also give the oboist headaches, until they get the pressure figured out.

By the time we got into Tulsa-town, we had 85 trucks in all. But there's a roadblock up on the cloverleaf, and them bears was wall to wall. Yeah them smokeys was thick as bugs on a bumper, they even had a bear in the air, I said callin' all trucks this here's the Duck, we about to go huntin' bear.

So we crashed the gate doin' ninety-eight, I said "Let them truckers roll!" 10-4!

My nephew's husband has a doctorate in oboe. His quote about learning to play the oboe is “I played and played until I didn’t sound like a duck.”

As long as I can get into my garage I have a key to the rear patio door and the both the front door and storm door hidden in the garage

So does he work and support his family with the oboe or is a he a waiter?

I'm only half kidding...
Honestly, he no longer enjoys playing the oboe. He did make a decent wage playing with an orchestra for a while but he's moved on to being an author (in a niche category of books) and his instrument of choice is now the harp. My nephew would be the primary bread-winner in the family.
