Succession on HBO

Had a hard time going to sleep after last night's episode. Had to be one of the best in the series despite how hard it was to watch at times. The preview for next week was also harrowing. Between Roman going full evil and Shiv out for blood, I feel like this won't end well for Kendall. Would be a fitting ending for none of the Roy kids to be sitting on the throne of Waystar at the end.
Kendall being miffed at Shiv (and Roman being miffed too for that matter) when they were shady as **** with deals of their own and she wasn't included (Rome with the for now devil president elect for example) is par for the course with the ire they all have in their veins.

not sure how it all ends up but I feel they're gonna be screwed out of the deal and rightfully so. I still think Gerri and Karl and Frank are gonna end up being a MAJOR part of the decision/deal.

I know people love Greg but if they end up giving him some sort of huge promotion that just won't make sense. No way that happens IMO...maybe if Tom somehow gets a big position? Dunno...I just don't buy the 'Greg is gonna end up looking great' angle.

I also have never understood their power angle. All the kids are/were set to make endless amounts of cash. If I were in that spot I wouldn't WANT any part of the company. Give me my money and I'm out. Easier said that done maybe when you've grown up in all that.

I did too! I honestly had to keep reminding myself this was just fiction because I was getting so much anxiety from it. There were things that were just a little too real with everything going on in that episode.

Also can I just say they are ALL acting out of their ******* heads this season. But singling out Sarah Snook...if she doesn't win the Emmy it's really a travesty. It's hard to act like she did when she was fumbling for words trying to dig herself out of the hole she created in real time when her cover was blown with her brothers. Even the looks on her face you could see her wheels spinning and knew exactly what she was thinking...how am I getting out of this. The looks alone between she and Ken through the window were just amazing.

Glad there is a thread for this! My favorite TV show in some time.

Speaking of that, is it a plot glitch that the Pierce acquisition is no longer discussed? The kids needed their stock buyout to pull off the $10 billion price. It is not as if Nan Pierce would just sit around while the kids mess around with GoJo. In the real world, Pierce’s lawyers would be all over them for breach.

I am also in the camp that Gerri and Karl will end up on top, with an assist from Frank before he retires. Karl standing up to Kendall for once is a foreshadowing of the ending.

I believe the timeline of this season is in days… so it has only really been a week from the offer.

That’s if I’m understanding correctly.

Madsen is crazy. He might be buying Waystar to run it in to the ground and destroy the Roy legacy.

Right, the episode this coming Sunday (E9) is only as far away from E3 as the time between:

a death and a funeral.

Not many days have passed in the Succession universe.

Last nights episode may go down as one of the greatest single episodes of tv I've ever seen. All day I have thought about it and more things that were subtle. The things that occurred and the reality of the timeliness of real life was truly remarkable. I wish I was as good at once thing as this writing team is and actors at it.

I don’t disagree that Logan has just passed in the timeline, but as someone that has worked in M&A, once Nan agreed to sell, lawyers (from both sides) would be working overtime to paper the draft deal up. This is a private sale, does not need SEC or Board approval.

No big deal, just bugged me that the kids have quickly pivoted away from this deal and there is no discussion on the show.

As others mentioned, it’s only been a week or so.

Also, their purchase of Pierce was with the understanding they’d have that money thanks to the GOJO deal. As far as the public/investors know that deal is going through as planned. No one but the family knows Kendall and Roman are trying to sabotage the deal

I think Shiv mentioned it in either E7 or E6. It caught my ear because I had also forgot about that part of the plot.

I think people want to make Succession into Game of Thrones with the scheming and plot threads, when really it's not that complicated. There's no business effects from the PGN deal because it was only there to pit kids v Logan, and then as a family stick together v. go it alone thread. The politics and business has always been very simple. Mencken = Evil, Jimenez = Good. Mencken = kill deal, Jimenez = allow deal. What's their actual politics? Who cares, it really doesn't matter.

Madsen getting Waystar and selling it to Pierce for a pittance would be an even bigger “**** you” to the Roy’s.

Another top notch episode. I was holding my breath basically the whole episode. I am not sure how this all ends next week. Part of me thinks Ken gets the crown which i will hate but it makes sense. I just really want them all to get ****** over honestly.

James Cromwell. Holy ****

The thing is if the last episode continues with this day per episode timeline, obviously very little can actually get resolved. I wonder if they fast forward at all (i. e. Six Feet Under finale, possibly one of the finest TV finales ever)

I think we are gonna have a LOT of open ended plot lines actually.
