Watson

With his length, Watson has tremendous potential as a perimeter defender. He badly needs to develop a 3 point shot. Being able to hit 1 or 2 wide open corner 3's is all that might be needed of him to be a solid glue guy for the next few years.

I love how Watson plays. His sitting stroke sometimes looks good but he seemed to hesitate with those open 3s last night. Just shoot don't think. I have high hopes for him over the next couple years

I don’t really care if he develops a 3 point shot. His role should be a glass crasher and lob catcher.

I think that was more on Gabe and Osun guarding the inbounder. Osun needs to take away the pass under the baskets. Gabe got screened, Watson switched off, otherwise they would have had a layup on the other side of the basket. Gabe needs to go under the screen to either stay on his guy or be in position to take Watson’s guy on the switch.

You can't switch off a guy underneath the basket. Johnson sold a hard screen and slipped to the basket. Gabe fought through the screen and should have stayed with the guy he was guarding.

Or take two dribbles and drop an open 12 footer (or better yet, drive it and look for opportunities when the defense adjusts). His stroke looks pretty good, so I think that will come around too.

Watson looked good on those corner 3s against Kansas, I think he’ll be able to make that shot reliably at some point.

When both Watson and Lipsey are out there, that’s 2 guys that other teams don’t have to guard out past 10 ft or so.

KSU wasn’t even guarding Lipsey on the perimeter at all by the end of the game.
And it's a big difference when you have a PG or ball handling playmaker that can't shoot. It can be counter-productive to sag on a guy like Lipsey. First, you give him a nice flat angle to get into the lane quickly. Second, like most offenses with our high post action, you're then putting your defender in a ton of traffic if he's sagging off. This is often when you see Lipsey be able to pick his spots and get to the rim. Third, if you're going to let a PG (especially a Fr.) catch whenever he wants it's pretty tough to make an offense too uncomfortable and turn the ball over.

When you are a guy that isn't a ball handler, then it starts to become a real problem for the offense.

I've been pleasantly surprised with the lack of Watson and Holmes jokes from the broadcasters. Early in the year I thought it'd be pretty much every time Watson came in the game we'd get an "elementary my dear Watson"

Gabe should have picked up Johnson because Watson had to take Gabe’s guy or he would have been wide open.

Kids can transfer 2x without sitting out:
- once as undergrad.
- once as grad transfer.

However, there was an article on ESPN about WBB player who transferred from Kentucky to Baylor. She had previously transfered from Utah(?). Sounded like if UK signed a document, she could have been immediately eligible at Baylor. UK refused to sign.
Life is too short to be that petty! Must of asked Calipari what to do!
