Iowa State vs Iowa

Perkins is the 2nd worst. Jordan ran his mouth a ton too. But honestly their best players of the last few years in Garza, Joe Wieskamp and the two Murrays have been fairly reserved.

Didn't Bobo head butt an Oregon player in the tourney before getting pulled?

Maybe the bratty entitled deal is starting to fade.

Next year for the Iowa game, we should have the players were Trice stripes on their uniforms somehow. We all know Fran goes crazy when he sees stripes, he may just stroke out on the bench if we were them as a team.

I approach the CyHawk MBB game with uncertainty, I'm not even going to try to guess.

ISU has had teams far better than Iowa in a particular season, and we get drubbed. Sometimes, it's closer to 50-50 and ISU wins at CFH. Occasionally, it's even-match when it's at Hilton, but we lose. Once in a while Iowa has a better overall season but loses (at either site).

And sometimes, when you lose or win, you actually tie.

Weird. On ESPN it's showing them at 18.
Are you looking at Woman's basketball? Which to be honest you'd still be able to argue that their woman's basketball team shouldn't be ranked. Have lost 3 times.

WHat? War Kaitlyn Clark?
She's still been great this year but from what I've seen she hasn't gotten much help. And there's the flip side of the argument in that her usage is so high that sometimes doesn't allow others to help much.

I hope they beat Duke, read the local news about being a final four lock, fly back from nyc and play ISU less than 48 hours later.
This is so huge. I am really surprised Fran agreed to schedule this game so close to the Cy-Hawk. It's almost like he knows his guys are gonna get punched in the face by us again and he wants a built in excuse for why they lose this time.

Some very interesting contrasts in this game - all on the Iowa O/ ISU D end of the court. That's clearly where the game will be decided - and like usual, if its a game in the 50s or 60s, I like our odds. If its a game in the 80s, we will almost certainly lose.

As showed in the kenpom pic above, #1 vs #1 in Turnover Rate at that end of the court is huge - but there's several other things as well.

According to haslemetrics.com, ISU defensively is #1 in NPAR (Near Proximity Attempts Allowed per 100 possessions) and Iowa is #4 offensively. Meaning that ISU doesn't allow teams to shoot at the rim and Iowa is very good at getting to the rim.

On the other hand, Iowa is one of the best teams in getting to the FT line (Free Throw Rate) and ISU is one worst at sending teams to the FT line. I think that's the biggest key to the game, unless a team goes off from 3 or dominates the boards (like UConn did to us) then I think it comes down to whether Iowa can get cheap points at the FT line. The 4 major conf teams ISU has played have all shot exactly 25 FTs. I think that's the number to match - less than 25, ISU probably wins. More than 25 Iowa probably wins.

Agree with all of this. This is the weird game where I really could see a blowout either way. If the refs call it tight and we get frustrated, then yeah I think this could get ugly for us. If our defense is allowed to play as physical as we want, it could be a TCU type game where Iowa just curls up into the fetal position and waits for it to be over.

I have been noticing this. The way Bluder plays and uses Kaitlin is detrimental to the bigger picture IMO. But, you know,...stats!

I am not worried about a tightly officiated game. Iowa's FT shooting has been bad, and we showed against UCONN that we can adjust to a tightly officiated game. I know we lost that one, but our guys did back off in the 2H and were still playing good d, just couldn't hit shots to stay in it.

Iowa doesn't have a Point Guard, and we will turn them over a lot more than they are used to. We might lose the FT Attempt / FT Made statistic, but I am comfortable predicting we win in most other areas, including final score.

The game wasn't originally on their schedule and was added later. I doubt anyone would turn down an offer to play Duke in MSG regardless of the schedule.
