Dekkers isn’t the problem, he’s a first year starter where INTs and questionable decision making at times was to be expected. Everything starts with the O Line; if they perform we can run the ball - if we run the ball the defense has to stay honest- if the defense has to stay honest it opens up the passing game and gives him time to make better decisions.
Dekkers has glaring issues also. His pocket awareness is poor, his touch is just him throwing it as hard as he can, and his designed runs are a lot of indecision.

The line is the huge issue, but we have a pile of issues once we sort that out.

You're correct on Prohm but your perception of ISU basketball is out there. He took over a top 20ish basketball program and rode that out for a couple of seasons.
Some people really hate Prohm. Do you realize that Hoiberg took the Bulls job very late in the normal coaching carousel? Even with the roster coming back there was a very small short list who would be interested in the job that late. It was very obvious Hoiberg and Pollard wanted TJ to be the successor then but Leath blocked it. I honestly think it allowed TJ to develop further so it was better he didn't get it immediately or we may have saw the same decline as Prohm.

Anyways, Prohm's Murray State squad was making some noise so it wasn't a bad hire on paper at the time. He lived and breathed ISU and still brought some success in the Big 12 and NCAA tournaments. When it looked like he had taken ISU as far as he could, Pollard made the change. He is gone now so I am not sure why people still dog on him.

We were a 3 seed I'm Hoibergs last year right? So technically we were the 9th-12th best team in college basketball. We should have been even better the next year with all the talent returning.

Yes but they lost because they were wildly inconsistent and it's questionable how much of a foundation was really there.

Calling ISU a 'premier' program imo is pretty insular; there are people that have hardly ever heard of Fred Hoiberg and wouldn't know much about his teams.

Just like how fans see ISU football as some sort of great thing when averaging 7ish wins really isn't that big of a deal nationally.

His placement on a lot of throws yesterday was really good. He's got the ability (if harnessed) to be a very good player at this level IMO. He'd benefit a ton from a creative scheme that makes things easier for him and doesn't repeatedly put him in 3rd & long because every first and second down is some sequence of an inside handoff from shotgun and a screen that never has a chance.

The o-line needs a complete overhaul. I'm talking multiple transfers, open competition, new coach for the group, just everything changed. They have been such a mess this year it's insane. I'm not sure yet if they're aware they're allowed to block a stunt. It would also help if we didn't play a fullback who isn't a threat in the passing game and grades out as a horrific blocker per PFF.

I hate his coach speak so bad. It’s one of the worst out there. Solid football coach, but good lord have mercy winning matters. Like he gets up there loss after loss and just talks about how the players are improving as fathers and husbands. Like what in the world is he saying? Save the counseling talk for the locker room.
He’s not paid to be a life coach. He’s paid to win football games I understand the improving players to not just be football players etc. At the end of the day you’re paid millions to win games it’s a business.

Who gives a ****, doesn't have anything to do with the fact Steve Prohm was a fraud. Trying to compare Prohm with Campbell is just stupid.
Absolutely right, one tore down a program someone else built and one is torching their own edifice for reasons unknown. It’s a completely different situation.

Agree with most of the post, but a two win season is the reason for his departure...the results were bad with Halliburton and THT on the floor...Prohm couldn't coach at this level.

I actually thought Prohm had ISU playing some of their best overall basketball since Larry at the end of his first two seasons albeit some rough patches to get there and some weird decisions, etc.

After that it was bumpy and then torpedoed.

I don't see CMC as another CSP; there are some things over the years imo from a discipline/fundamental angle that are proving to be problematic in a rebuild though.

The offseason should be interesting and you have to wonder what next year will look like.

First fire the Oline coach (and possibly the S&C coach). Then have a booster buy a first or second round lineman with NIL if they can. That will make HS kids think that we get Olineman drafted. HS kids don’t think those things through, they see a highly drafted player and believe it’s due to the team.

The footwork and perceived lack of anticipation of the Oline is...lacking, to put it nicely.

Well that would be the first true emphasis placed on the Oline since the Bruce era. Coincidentally it happens to be the “only” three year stretch where Iowa State football in its entire history won 8 games three seasons in a row. I am sure it was just a coincidence though.

I didn't bring up anything, the OP is the one saying Campbell is the exact same as Prohm. I was simply responding to his stupid take.
I wasn't aware someone saying Prohm was essentially putting up a Bat Signal for the most annoying and tired argument on this site.

Prohm crashed and burned hard. No one disputes that.

Campbell needs to change his offensive philosophy to avoid a similar end. Whether that means just an OC change or more, idk. But whoever they bring in at OC needs to have a vocabulary that replaces "ball control" with "explosive plays" and "points". (I have to assume we see change at OC, because dark times lay ahead if Manning is around after TCU.)

College Football is now Just a Big Money game and those schools with the most money will get the best players!!

And these same schools will win and those schools who have NO MONEY will LOSE FOREVER!!

NICE GAME WE HAVE HERE! NOT!!
Hate to tell ya, but it’s always been that way.

Last two years.

Hire another defensive coordinator. His only job would be self scouting our offense. We obviously have no one doing it.
