Remember when…

Iowa and ISU are in the same boat. Doesn't matter who the OC is they are just there to run what the head coach wants.

For those clamoring for Manning to be fired… It hasn’t been too long ago when he did leave and Campbell took over play calling. Fans spent the entire season moaning and groaning about how bad it was. So…maybe the offense is a reflection of the man at the top as much as anything else?
Campbell said the offense is on him. He sits in on all meetings and said something like " blame me and not anyone else."

If we run the same game plan and same offense in Austin next week against UT, I am predicting a blow out.

Which is tough b/c I was considering traveling to that game before the season. That's an easy "no" for me now.

The whole program is a reflection of the man at the top. Our DC and our OC both work for CMC and I’m sure he is extensively involved in both game plans. One side of the ball is just really struggling right now. There are multiple reasons for this and I’m sure no one is more frustrated than CMC.

I’m becoming a bit of an Arizona fan by hanging with some neighbors and it’s like watching an inverse of this ISU team. Offense with big play ability but never a stop on d.

Why is it so hard to be aggressive and dangerous on both sides of ball? It seems like only 5-10 programs a year really are. I feel like someone who has coached or played at higher level than hs might understand better than I could.

Arizona Wildcats? Or Cardinals?

Wildcats. We are hoping for them to join big 12. I mean neither of our teams are good, but if you combined them by unit you’d have a ranked team and the worst fbs team.

I think the CMC offenses might have been better than Manning’s “effort”. At least CMC let Purdy scramble and improvise

do they look this bad in practice or what. im confused

I think part of our team strategy on offense is ball control, controlling time of possession, and limiting the amount of time the other team is on the field.

That kind of strategy I think helps our defense out and sometimes can prevent the opposing QB from getting into a flow.

I think a key to playing like that though is having good special teams and having better execution on offense which we are struggling with.

I would guess depth and ability to keep up the intensity. Usually seems like the top tiers are the only ones who can do it season to season.

Teams like Utah (later in the season) and Cincinatti last year had it though.

I thought KU played that way but they're having injuries and things could change very quickly in this aspect.

Iowa State was just fine on offense when we had weapons. Tom Manning isn’t the main reason for the problem. The offensive line needs major changes, that starts with coaching. Find someone fit for the role and do it immediately (now if at all possible). Need tight end grad transfers. That position is severely lacking this year. Losing a guy like Kaleb Johnson to Iowa was a major blow, that kids a stud. We don’t have the next Montgomery/Hall right now. Need someone to take the lead on special teams. Great day Saturday but those days are few and far between.

Norton could be.

Brock is doing quite well when healthy. Upgrade the line and watch him go.

Probably, but we all know this same coaching staff averaged 30+ points a game for years. Sure Purdy, Kolar, and Hall are gone but CMC and Manning are still trying to figure out what works with the current personnel.

The trap rushing and 5 yard crossing routes obviously are not working so hopefully they will go to plan B. And Dekkers has to increase accuracy and start hitting hands on 5-10 yard passes.

KU might now win another game.
