Everything from Campbell's history seems to be at odds with the reporting of "highly expected."

Campbell hasn't done this stuff during the season in the past and doesn't have a great way of doing so directly/quickly during the season without being a distraction (i.e., he doesn't have an agent). I doubt Campbell would want to leave a coaching job in the middle of a season and I certainly doubt it would be a snap move like this appears to be. Changing at this time would involve more than just being in the middle of a season - school and other activities have already started as well. My uninformed opinion would be that any response from him at this moment would likely be "I'll listen to your offer after the season ends."

I could easily see how the overconfident and borderline irrational NU boosters would think such a response indicates a done deal. I would also echo the other posters that leaking such during the season would only serve to deter CMC from taking the job.

I also can’t quite get over the phrasing of the tweet saying “it is HIGHLY expected” that CMC will be the next Nebraska coach. It just oozes entitlement and overconfidence from the Nebraska sources … Campbell is their first choice, it’s such a lucrative and desirable job, there’s just no way he’d ever turn it down. The “HIGHLY expected” is all from one side, and that just doesn’t seem like very good reporting to phrase it that way without any inside info from the Campbell side (and you know there isn’t any).
Nebraska still hasn’t learned that floating coaching names and then getting turned down results in substantial egg on the face. Even if this isn’t coming from the AD if I’m Trev Alberts I’m telling his local media to STFU. I don’t think Campbell even sniffs the Nebraska job but what will make it more unlikely is a big season by the Clones. Say Campbell is their preferred candidate, if we make the CCG it will put a lot of pressure on NU to make an alternative hire, especially if they finish say 3-9 or 4-8 under the interim coach.

The safe word with BF and I is ….. Punt.

It is. A little straight-up game winner wager with @keepngoal . He suggested just doing an av, it was my bright idea to include an opening line on every post of the winner's choosing. Still waiting on the av, should be fun. Lol.

This is way better. Good on you guys for getting creative with it. Pretty funny.

This is part of the downward spiral that Nebraska is in. Their media took over the power from the AD a while ago.

Now the AD is constantly chasing the medias (and by proxy the fans) insane delusions.

Reports are saying his kids have been removed from school and are being taken to the airport to go to Lincoln.

As long as we have Pollard, we’ll be ok. Every football coach has built off of the previous coach.
Agree on the first sentence, but the second not so much. Chizik maybe, but Rhoads only won with Chizik's players then fell off. Hard to type that considering Chizik is a prick and Rhoads is a good dude.

Legit Q... how many better jobs are there in the big 10 alone than nebraska TODAY? Not what they used to be or think they are but actually are. Id argue: Michigan, Ohio state, Penn st, usc, UCLA, Wisconsin for sure, and i think you could make an argument at least, today, for Michigan state and Iowa also. Money is a factor but i do not see it for Campbell unless he wants the challenge.
I would 100% argue that both Mich st and Iowa are better jobs right now.

Matt Rhule would be a slam dunk hire imo..he’s likely getting fired soon too..
Dont sleep on Lane Kiffin either..

As for CMC..it would truly shock me if he left for Nebraska...Complete trainwreck of a program and that job is about to get a lot harder in 2024 with USC joining and heck maybe even ND and BIG getting rid of divisions too..

ISU has spent a crap ton of $$ for cmc on new facilities and salary for his staff not to mention JP is soon going to get “CyTown“ approved which will transform the AD and Campustown.

Lastly..Neb is nowhere near a blueblood program. It’s like saying UCLA is blue blood in fball bc they were great 50 years ago...Granted Neb success sooner..
Nebraska hiring Lane would be borderline erotic.
