For the millionth time:

The bridge was funded by a private donor.

The bridge isn't just being built on a whim, its being built so that space can be cleared to fund a revenue generating opportunity.

Not trying to be obtuse..just don't understand how the bridge will generate revenue. A winning football team generates a lot more revenue than a bridge in my way of thinking anyway.

The bridge is being built to provide a point of connection to the east to the new RV lot being built over there. With RVs cleared out, land is opened up for the commercial development in between JTS and Hilton which will bring revenue year-round, not just 6-7 days a year

What are they planning on building where the current RV lot is?

No I'm serious. A lot of bb players have more online classes since they are on the road so often.

If he wants to transfer he has to stay in good academic standing to be eligible.

Any taxes I don't have done by now are getting extended. I've moved on from taxes to my quarter end stuff.

Maybe you missed it, but he is rumored to be going to UNC. They don't worry about things like eligibility. They'll adjust the transcript to show he was taking classes in Chapel Hill this semester if necessary.

The RV elite don't want to walk across the road like us poors do.. I get it...money talks.

I know this is a stupid question in the current climate of college sports but how can one remain academically eligible if they haven't been to school for a month. It would be my hope that any player skipping out on school for a half of a semester would fail all classes.
I've thought about this recently. Is there really any expectation that athletes go to class or even pass classes? I can remember every December, leading up to bowl game, waiting to hear who's been declared ineligible. Every team would have some. Or mbb teams having a player out for the 2nd semester due to grades. You never hear it anymore. One & dones, the transfer portal, NIL, pay for play, ... the gig is up, the farce of the "student-athlete" is finally dead.

Here I thought the bridge was to prevent a tragedy, not raise money. Know a cop who has worked that intersection and thinks it’s going to be a killed pedestrian at some point. I remember some Thursday night game when it was even more of a free for all than usual.

Yeah I drove by it for the first time today. ..just seems completely unnecessary. People have been walking across that road for almost 50 years going to and from football games.
Grass lot donors != RV donors

On game day they could have shut down University Blvd to non football related traffic, which would probably reduce traffic by 90% and would make it much easier for fans to cross over. Simple solution.

I know the City of Ames is going to great lengths to actively screw up traffic flow and make driving across town somehow even worse than it already is, and this flies in the face of that strategy, but I’m going to go ahead and say I’m in favor of something that will improve the game-day experience for both drivers and pedestrians.

The new road they opened up from Hy-Vee to S 16th street would be an easy detour road if they shut down part of University Blvd for game days.

How does one shut down University for non-football traffic only? You make that sound a lot easier than it would be.

Just got an email from Jamie and he thought that was the best idea of the century.

The new ped bridge is going to be the first ped toll-bridge on a college campus. Toll revenue will be used to fund NIL endowments.

All is Good in the World. Happy Easter Everyone! Gotta get up early to eat some candy and open up my new Tyrese Hunter NFT. You might see me panhandling right before the ped toll-bridge for the next 30 years. Be GENEROUS!!
