Tyrese Hunter Entering the Transfer Portal - NIL Speculation

I keep thinking about the Corner 3 podcast when they asked Jaz who they should get on the podcast next and his reply was something like “I’m trying to think of who’s even still here.” Tyrese’s name didn’t come up, but after this news broke it made me wonder if the team knew. Completely possible I’m reading too much into it, though.

I might be wrong here. But if this didn't have legs, wouldn't Tyrese just stamp it out? One tweet would take care of it. I'm pretty certain that a young man in his position knows it is not a good thing to have rumors like this out there.

UNLESS we are witnessing the first time an ISU player has used rumors to get a "raise". Heck, coaches do it all the time.

Jesus, guys, it's right in front of you. He's gone.

OK, fine — I guess everyone seems to know it, even though it isn't official, so why doesn't he just announce he's entering the portal?

How common is it to have a portal-declaration with so much speculation, uncertainty, rumors, half-truths, non-truths? ...

Usually it’s announced, and that’s it. Same for declaring/exploring for NBA draft.

Is there some mysterious new realm we’ve entered?

Announce the s*** and move on.

Yes, it's called NIL bidding war, and it sucks.

Anything to be honest, what’s being said inside the program etc

Absolutely they knew. If it's true he hasn't been back to Ames since the Sweet 16 thats pretty easy to figure out if you're his teammate. Makes you wonder how long this has been in the works.

I know this is a stupid question in the current climate of college sports but how can one remain academically eligible if they haven't been to school for a month. It would be my hope that any player skipping out on school for a half of a semester would fail all classes.

Entering the portal is an official thing, it takes paperwork from both sides. It could easily be as simple as this going down on a weekend and having to wait until a "business day" to process and announce.

Just thinking it would have made a lot more sense to fund an NIL plan for our football and basketball players then build a fancy bridge to the football stadium that might be nice to look at but doesn't help our ability to compete and win games.

The Bridge money is coming from people who wanted to use their money for that. If they wanted to give their money to an NIL Fund they would have. Not all big donors to the University are sports donors.

Heck to get the big donors for the South Endzone project they had to expand Reiman Gardens too.

Because the season is over before the semester is over -- unlike football.

For the millionth time:

The bridge was funded by a private donor.

The bridge isn't just being built on a whim, its being built so that space can be cleared to fund a revenue generating opportunity.

Compliance has to sign off on it to "enter the portal" so if he decided yesterday afternoon, really difficult to get done before Monday I would think.

That's my understanding anyway.

You’re trying to be funny before the last tax push tomorrow right?

No I'm serious. A lot of bb players have more online classes since they are on the road so often.

If he wants to transfer he has to stay in good academic standing to be eligible.

Any taxes I don't have done by now are getting extended. I've moved on from taxes to my quarter end stuff.
