NIL wasn't around when Daum was at SDSU, so if he went to a place like Kentucky or Gonzaga it would have been to win a title. Different conversation when guys are rumored to be getting 6 figures. It sucks as a fan, but if you were 19 could you turn down a 6 figure offer? I wouldn't.
That money is life changing, but the goal is making the NBA. If Iowa State can make a good offer, build his skills and he doesn’t have to compete for shots or playing time. I can see a scenario where he stays.

College basketball as we know it is over. This is what happens when money and greed take over and it goes all the way up to the Supreme Court. 9 people who don't know basketball from field hockey caused this and there's no turning back.

If this story is really true, which I'm not even buying it, he wouldn't even start for them and would be the 5th best guard on their team, then I'm done forever.

I absolutely refuse to be a part of it, ill never watch another game or spend anymore money on NCAA athletics.
Next year will be a blast trying to compete against thr Big 12 without a pg. No more Niangs, Monte, Naz type players that we can all see develop over 4 years, nope, just a cobbled together roster everywhere full of leftovers after the blue bloods have bought their team.

There are exceptions but they are rare exceptions.

Look no further than the chaos that came from displacing non-donors in football. Those sections were full at the cheapest priced tickets and zero donation required with the loudest noise coming from those who said they had groups of tickets together.
We’ve made progress growing our base but a good portion of that growth has come from non donors. That combined with NIL is going to keep us in this position.
I'm a longtime donor who selected seats in the displaced section on purpose. The same goes for almost every "non donor" seat in Hilton. The lower row corner seats have a heavy donor presence.

So, I guess I don't understand your statement. Should I donate less and buy more expensive seats at jack trice? I do buy donor seats at hilton

I would say no. That’s high. Especially for what’s likely to be one more year whether internet message board warriors think he’s ready or not at that point.
I'm conflicted. I think he's really good and gonna get better, but also agree that there's about a 0% chance he'd be around for more than one more season regardless. I'd rather throw $200kish at Green, Basile, and Vander Plas and see what happens if we're going all-in on one season.

Season's over, though. It's a long tradition that athletic attendance drops when their season ends.
Currently, that starts earlier, like the old stereotypes used to suggest.

That doesn’t sound like something Matt Campbell would allow. IMO that is a tradition that does not exist in the Culture at Iowa State. Completely contrary to what Matt Campbell requires. That is not being the best version of “you” that you can possibly be. TJ has requirements as well.

Sure. Paterno had that image, too. Hopefully, Campbell really is different if we reach that point, but I wouldn't go out on a limb defending coaches and ethics.

You made a very sleazy comparison there that is not warranted in the least. Comparing Campbell to pedophile enabler Paterno. Stop.

I’m old enough to remember when NIL came out in July and everyone was jumping for joy on here.

I’m happy for the guys making some money. Wasn’t under any illusion that ISU would have to be creative, alternate concepts to deal with it and still be successful. We have two coaches/staffs that are willing to handle it which is good.

I ask this in total sincerity - who do you think will come up with the dollars? I do not need names, unless you have some, but what kinds of businesses are going to come up with the $?
Example (off memory) - within days of NIL being created the largest car dealership in South Florida said they would give $5000/year to every Miami football player. Annually. In round numbers that is $500K/ yr.
Texas was worried about their OL. They formed a business group and had $10M within days. I think it was $25K per O lineman every year.
I know these are football examples. But what base are we going to tap?
BTW - I have no idea if there is anything to this story.

Hawkeyes and Cyclone fans in Iowa should think a little bit when they go to pull the levers every so often. There are no mega-car dealership groups in Iowa, because there is little to no growth. No one comes here to start a business outside of agriculture, so there’s no hot company that wants to make a mark in this sphere.

False. I did not. I said that we do not know what he would do.

Why make a comparison like that at all? We know what he does. His record shows it. Until he does something that warrants a comparison like that you do not make a sleazeball attack. Stop being a POS.
