MLB: ***2022 MLB SEASON THREAD***

Brett Taylor (Cubs blogger) had a great point on Twitter. You're up 7-0. At least let him go out there and put some over the plate and see what happens. Maybe they just hit into 6 outs. And if they get a hit you can pull him and you're still up 7-0.

They were only up 3-0 when the decision was made. But I get what your saying.

I get the decision to take him out because of limited spring training but also on the other hand, one of the greatest pitchers of all time has a perfect game on the line.

It goes to a larger point of managers insisting on managing the life right out of the game.

Reggie Jackson must not be familiar with Dave Roberts's playing career
The Dodgers front office focuses heavily on analytics and Roberts's strategy falls right in line with that. What Reggie is saying is the analytics people are to blame (and I agree).

I assumed Kershaw was pulled due to still being early in the year and not wanting to risk injury, but some on here and twitter are more of the belief it was a decision to win the game. If it was the former I totally understand it, but if it was the latter that is a boneheaded decision

I am a twins fan and there is absolutely no chance Minnesota was coming back to win that game.

I can't think there was any way it was to win the game, given they were up as much as they were. They were at 99% win probability.

If they took him out because they wanted to win the game they probably weren't using analytics.

Analytics? I do not see this as an analytics issue. This was about protecting a key player since it’s April and we had such a short spring training to build up pitch counts.

Kershaw also seemed fine with it when asked afterwards, said his command was starting to go. I guess its possible he was just being a company man
