The crazy thing to me, a lot of outsiders talked down on our success as if it wasn’t built. As if “transfers” aren’t culture. But these guys had to trust each other, had to gel, and come up to speed as a team in one off-season.

You look at the turnaround, it’s clear they trusted each other, bought in, and fought their asses off all season. Sure, it didn’t always culminate. Sometimes they took hard lumps on the head. But they always fought.

Imagine what this team could do with a few years together. Damn proud.

Thank you to both men’s and women’s teams for this season. Bitter night having to wait and see both teams lose and really not play that well. But both getting to the Sweet 16? Absolutely awesome.

Can we have last weekend’s feeling back though?

So many things to say and so much frustration after being bounced in the Sweet 16 three times in the last 8 years. But your post perfectly summed up what should be said. So thankful for this season and these guys

This is going to look horrific if things go downhill from here, but I legit get the feeling we will be soon enough. We made a Sweet 16 and won 7 conference games in the best league in the sport on basically just straight grit and effort. Imagine what happens when we get more talent in here.

I'm not gonna say we win a national title or a final 4. It's really tough because you need some luck with everything too and we are still in fact Iowa State, so luck usually isn't in our favor. But we could win a Big 12 title or 2 and pull some very nice seeds, which is all you can really ask for sometimes.

I was with my wife at the game against Grambling and couldn’t believe how hard these guys were playing, again. They blew the doors off that team and with a few minutes left, I just got a crazy feeling and said to her that if this is TJ’s culture, he will have us in the Final Four within his first 5 years. Then, we went to NYC and won those two crazy games. Came back to win at Creighton. Ran Iowa out of Hilton - those two teams did not belong on the same court that night. Fought hard for 7 tough wins in the league, and Izaiah willed us to that WV win to get in the tournament.

This was an unexpected, special year. While this team could be incredibly painful to watch, their effort and desire matched any group of Cyclones I can remember. Hopefully we can take another step forward next year, but for now, let’s just appreciate how magical this year was. I’m not even sad right now, just grateful.
