*** Official Selection Sunday Thread ***

Agree that Big 10 is overrated, but how would the last two weeks, when teams are playing conference games, tell you a single thing about relative strength of the conferences. Non con games are the only way to gauge conference strength.
Ohio State and Wisconsin losing to Nebraska for one.

Im not even sure Iowa gets past Providence. If i had to pick a similarly seeded big east team or a big ten team, its not gonna be the big ten

Here are some Selection Sunday tidbits.

Iowa State tidbit: Iowa State is an #11 Seed for the first time. The #11 Seed is the 12th different seed for Iowa State in school history. We have been every seed from #2 through #13.

I also know that some of you liked my drilldown page that I built last year.

But you could just as easily say that shows how deep the Big 10 is.

That's one of the issues the big 12 faces in football and basketball. It's an absolute meatgrinder, but people use upsets as proof that it sucks

When were we a 12 and 13? I can remember the others well. But not those two. 13 maybe in 1985?

Oh, I thought you meant the game the week before that they destroyed Creighton.

See how using one game analysis is dumb?
Oh I get that. I wasn't aware of the earlier matchup. My bad. In that case, I feel a little better in hoping our disaster to Tech doesn't show up vs. LSU, even tho its a different team.

It was stated that no 5 seed has ever won an NCAA tournament. When was the last BIG to win it all?

3 #5 seeds have been to the National Championship game - 2000 Florida, 2002 Indiana, 2010 Butler - They all lost

Last Big Ten team to win - Michigan State in 2000. Since then, Big Ten teams have lost 7 straight National Championship appearances.

All of these questions were answered from my tournament drilldown page. I am happy to answer others, but if you want to explore, here is the link:

They are a streaky team. They played Villanova close twice, beat TT, beat Wisconsin but lost to northwestern somehow.

Nebraska barely won 10 games and then several other teams had straight losing records.

This isn't to say the B12 will do much as there's some limitations there as well.

In all I don't trust anyone this year. Lots of Jekyl/Hyde teams out there.
