What did Buchanan do? Toss him? I was watching Coleman’s match and looked over and he was on his back.1-0.

Has to, right? Losing 1-0 is a killer, especially for an athletic guy like that. Some Metz type guy? Maybe. Not Bastida.Don’t be surprised to see 197 choosing bottom instead of neutral in more instances going forward
I’m also surprised he hasn’t been able to take Woodley down in 2 matches and now couldn’t take Buchanan down. He’s so elite on his feetHas to, right? Losing 1-0 is a killer, especially for an athletic guy like that. Some Metz type guy? Maybe. Not Bastida.
I think when he starts 3rd period down 1-0, opponents go on defense mode and tougher to score onI’m also surprised he hasn’t been able to take Woodley down in 2 matches and now couldn’t take Buchanan down. He’s so elite on his feet
Agree. I’m not ready to be concerned about it yet, but it’s not out of the realm of possibility that these guys have figured out the angle on Bastida. He’s athletic as hell, but he’s still learning and a bit limited on his attacks.I’m also surprised he hasn’t been able to take Woodley down in 2 matches and now couldn’t take Buchanan down. I agree with this.Mark me down as not being particularly fond of Yonger’s draw. Hope I’m wrong, but there are some tough dudes in that quad.
How many non-David points did we score last year?It goes without saying that we need all the other guys to step up next weekend. Carr should be good for 20+ with bonus points factored in. Can the other guys combine for 20+ points? If all goes great they might get 25 points combined.

Jr World Champ seeded 23rd in a tournament. Talk about depth!I agree with this.
Braxton Amos is a tough first rd match. He's been somewhat dissappointing in folkstyle after winning a Jr world title in freestyle this past summer. The list of americans to win Jr World's is not very long (David Carr is one)!
I'd also rather Yonger had guys he hasn't wrestled 3x (Elam) and 2x (Buchanan) in his path. He has such a unique feel and skillset, I personally think it would be better to see guys he hasn't hit before.
Kysen - 1 ptInitial thoughts:
125: Honestly about the best draw he could've asked for. Realistic path to the quarters, then all you need is to win the blood round to get on the podium. Not expecting that to happen though, just hope he gets at least 1 win on Thursday and is wrestling Friday morning.
133: I would have the same goal as Kysen. Win one match Thursday and be wrestling on Friday. I think best case scenario for Ramazan is probably 2-2.
141: Not really sure what to expect from Ian. 13 seed is better than I expected, but if the same guy from Big 12s shows up, a 1-2 performance wouldn't surprise me. I am hoping he can get to the blood round and let it loose Friday night in Detroit. Best case scenario to me is probably 7th or 8th and hoping he can get it done!
149: I expect Jarrett to beat McDougald round 1, then lose to Yianni Thursday night. From there it really just depends on how his path lines up as far as making the blood round. Best case to me is 7th/8th, worst case 1-2.
157: Not a huge fan of Berge being the 16 seed and then either Lewan or Young in the quarters. I don't think he loses either match, but was hoping he would have guys he could bonus to the semis for the team race. Guessing it will be 2-4 point matches after his first round en route to the finals.
174: Goal for Joel is to win 1 match. Ceiling is probably 2-2, but would be happy with 1 win and have him wrestling Friday.
184: I expect Marcus to make the quarters, but lose to Amine. From there, it really just depends on who he wrestles in the blood round. I would say his ceiling is 5/6 match.
197: Wild card. Could go 1-2, could get hot and win the damn thing. A good tournament will have him being an AA, I would be disappointed if he doesn't at least make the blood round.
Hwt: Similar to 133 and 174, I am guessing Sammy will go 1-2 or 2-2, but probably won't be close to AA.
Can't wait for next week!
53 points would've put us 9th last year. I am hoping we can get top 10, but will take a great tournament to get there.Kysen - 1 pt

Parker - 7th, 7 pts
Degen - 8th, 7 pts

Being very optimistic at 53 points. I think the floor is somewhere around 28 points.
The range is really all over the place. It’s about 30-55 points max. Hope they show up to put on a show!53 points would've put us 9th last year. I am hoping we can get top 10, but will take a great tournament to get there.
