Big Man Options Next Year

I think that we need a big with a post up game that is able to dribble. If we can get someone like OU got in Groves, that would be a nice addition. It also wouldn't hurt to find a tall wing that can shoot. Keep an eye on the mid majors during the tournament. Usually guys that ball out there end up transferring up.

I'd be good with an O'Bannor type. Tech was really fortunate to get him. But man, if Oral Roberts has a guy like him, maybe another midmajor player is available like that that wants to step up a level. Skilled but big body enough to get rebounds and fight for position.

I bet we pick up another transfer. King for Conditt will be a good trade off, and with Kunc, Jones, and Enuranu we have a good foundation. Another year together and I think we'll see improvement in all their games. Jones has gotten better as the season's progressed for sure.

Idc about some traditional big man. I want 6'6" plus with a long wingspan and good athleticism.

Option A = 6'10" "Big" guy - wide-bodied big and a force inside the paint, physical and strong as he is broad inside, virtually immovable in the paint (David McCormack)

Option B = Another 6' 7/8" option - strong combination forward that plays more like a power forward than a small forward at this point. He is physical around the basket where on the left low block he likes to face and attack the rim along the baseline (Royce White)

Option C = 6' 5" shooter - Combo guard with good size and decent length. Big-time scorer who can knock down shots from all three levels (Bryce Thompson)

All were ranked similarly in their respective HS recruiting classes.

I'll take B over C over A. Just works better for our team.

Fizer was listed at 6-6 265. What he didn't have in height he made up for in ballast so he could defend centers when he had to. He was NOT getting pushed around on the block on offense or defense. But not every guy who is 265 can run the floor like Marcus could.

Confident they're staying: Hunter, Grill, Walker, King
Confident they're leaving: Brockington
Everyone else I'd give a 2/3 chance they stay. By that logic I guess 2 leave but I have no idea which.

It’s amazing to me how some of you clearly think that players remain static from year to year. Especially the ones getting significant playing time for the first time.

TJ built this team by looking for guys in the portal with great defensive metrics, and this plus the addition of Kyle Green to this staff PAID OFF. This was key in turning the team around as much as they have in one year.

But when going shopping this year they better be looking at rebounding metrics and shooting efficiency because that **** is unwatchable.

Agreed, they need to get to a happy medium where we still play good defense but aren't setting futility records on offense. Hopefully he'll learn from this year.

Agreed. I'm generally not convinced any single player ever makes a massive difference positive or negative (as long as they try) on defense unless you're like a Manute Bol level rim protector. Can't argue with the plan for this season but think the staff will need to be more aggressive pursuing bucket makers who maybe aren't elite on defense moving into next year.

I think once you do have the foundation set on defense you can hide some weaker defenders at least a bit. Not too many guys like Brockington available who can bring it on both ends like that.

Whether he’s struggled or not, he’s a true cyclone at heart
This. I've been appalled at the way I've seen some people talk about our players on this board this year. These guys have all played their guts out and done something no one thought they could, and they get trashed every game they don't win. It's pretty ******* disgusting.

I know we have Robert Jones coming back next year and Tre King coming in is 6'8" but we loose most of our size next year. Does anyone know what the likelyhood that Kuntz and Conditt come back? I don't think we have much for open scholarships for bigs. Do we have any other recruits on the radar to play the 5?

You could bring in a 7 ft corner fence post and it would have as much offensive skill as Condit and Jones. Would definitely be stronger under the basket.

So, I'm not that worried because chances are high, that whoever they bring in, will be an improvement.

Too bad Condit can't shoot a basic junior high level elbow shot. Or a basic baby hook.
He's shooting 65% for the year and like 67% from the line. He's easily leading the team in TS% (which is sorta normal for a center). He just doesn't really ever end up in positions to shoot.

He was not even close to the main problem tonight. I don't know why he gets all of the god damn **** around here, but it is clear that it is OK to bash him, but not others.

George was the only player that looked like he cared that they lost tonight by the way.

Dunks and layups at 6'10? Sure. Almost all of those shots are off of rolls where he has an uncontested shot. Have you ever seen him take a short jump shot in the lane or the elbow? Even when he's not even being guarded?

What is his percentage on baby hooks? I'm going to go out on a limb and say that it's pretty low. Maybe lower than Bob's free throw percentage.
