NFL: ***2022 NFL Season Thread***

Weren't you just saying last week that college players shouldn't opt out of bowl games to ... protect their health?
Kind of a difference between playing a 13th game where you've had a month to prepare vs playing a 17th game where some of these guys have hadn't a week off now in 14 weeks.

In regards to Thursday, maybe not more injuries but you can definitely tell some teams are tired during the Thusday night games. It's not enough time to recover at all.

Dillon is a huge part of our offense, so no, that wasn’t a screw up.
Not at the cost.

He barely played last year

You could have grabbed a guy filling his role this year in last year’s draft in the mid rounds. Or cheaply in FA. And if you can’t, that says something

Another thing for you guys that play fantasy, its ruining fantasy football. There's not alot of skill anymore like it was 5 or 10 years ago. Some of that can be blamed on all the Covid scratches the last 2 years but it's getting more unpredictable every year.

There's so many injuries and commitees now for receiver and running back. If you need proof of this I'm in a league that's been around for 15 years, we have 7 out of the 10 teams have won championships and the guy who just won the league was an auto-pick team. He was also first in points this year and last year. So a random computer is better at picking fantasy now than 9 guys whove watched football for 30 or 40 years.

Playing against my son for 3rd place in our league. I had Jones and he had Dillion. I was up by 3 and ended up losing by 4. Grrrrr!!!!!

Agreed. I was 11-3 going into the playoffs but my squad was either hurt, splitting touches, or in Covid protocol. Pure luck was working for me.

The person in the championship was an auto pick player. She had a losing record but just got in the playoffs.

Bottom line.... don't put too much of your self-worth into your fantasy results or the results of any NFL game actually

10 years ago in week 16...

The top 5 rushers were Arian Foster, Evan Royster, Kahlil Bell, Rashard Mendenhall and Reggie Bush.

Jared Cook had the most receiving yards.

It's always been luck.

Hey, at least you lost to a family member, guy playing in our league championship game lost out on $400 to a computer picked team. Lol

Not true, I've played long enough to know that it's a combination of luck and skill, the same 4 or 5 guys have the best records every year. I've made the playoffs 7 out of 9 years I think and there's other giys with only 2 or 3 appearances.

I'll agree it's alot of luck but it's trending lately towards more luck than skill. The extra game just adds more to the luck side.

Doesn't an extra game allow for more opportunities, therefore less variance, therefore skill matters more and luck matters less?

That happened to me a couple years ago. I was the #1 seed, then had a bunch of injures late in the year so my team was a shell of itself for the finals. I looked at who I had left and knew I wouldn't win the game with my players left. So I basically bought like 4 or 5 free agents that week and stuck them in my lineup and ending up winning.

I felt bad for basically fielding a DFS lineup that was a shell of my real team.

Week 18 is more football. Hope they double or triple the number of games each team plays if you ask me.

Wouldn't it be more variance? You have more injuries and more committees to keep guys fresh to get through a 17 game season. I know Covid is a factor also but this year it just seems the injuries are out of control.

Just off the top of my head, Godwin, Lamar, Dalvin Cook, Darrel Henderson, Fournette are all guys who significantly contributed to fantasy this year and haven't played much during the playoff weeks.

Then you have multiple giys like Henry, McCaffrey, Kamara, Kittle, Waller, Barkely, Hopkins, who have barely played all year.

I look at the variance this way:

If you have the best team in the league and you play the worst team one time in a one game season, what are the chances you finish with a better record? 75%?

If you have the best team and you play the worst team 13 times, what are the chances you finish with a better record? 96%?

More games = more opportunities for a better team to win in the long run.

I'm sure at the forefront of the NFL exec's minds when they make decisions is the effect on fantasy football.....

I do agree, but I think covid has far more effect than injuries for the most part
