I believe it, but think it also makes Lambo look whiny and searching for something. Have a feeling it was like a slap on the butt/back type kick and Lambo is looking for something to use.
And it gives the owner a "last straw" excuse to fire him, because yes let's face it this has not been a success.
If Urban was around .500 or better, this would be nothing.

Oh yeah I get that, I was talking HC's.
Jim Harbaugh, Jimmy Johnson. Maybe Barry Switzer... he won a Super Bowl but he was handed an all time team and arguably underperformed with them. Thats about all I can think of for modern era.

I don't think a coach swearing at and kicking a nobody kicker in the preseason that registered a "5/10" was a factor. Urban was gone. The team is showing zero promise, the assistants and players all hate him.

Does it matter? It's not the only reason. Just the final one. It's clear that he had made plenty of enemies in that locker room and was not well liked.
The guy has rarely lost and when he did was miserable. Wonder what Shelley thinks of it all. She may not let him come home.

Not exactly sure.

Agree, I don't think that is what did Uban in. I just think Lambo was searching for something so he could get into the conversation.

You think shelley will care that he is getting paid for 3-4 more years and will probably land a high paying gig somewhere (didn't he do broadcast stuff at one time) if she let him fondle nebraska and is still with him?

What a weird marriage. Weird.

Maybe Urb will have to crash with MENSA for a while.

He may not want to be done but I don't see many P5 schools rolling the dice on him. I could actually see him take a MAC type job in a few years though.

UMM Texas is desperate right now and Urban can be gotten for a bit cheaper than normal. Sounds like a match made in heaven

Carroll isn't the most fair comparison as he had already been a head coach for the Patriots before coaching USC. He had also been an NFL assistant for over ten years. So he understood the NFL before heading there.

As for first time NFL coaches straight from college:

There's a lot of failures, but the overall record excluding Urban Meyer is only 12 games under .500.

Albert Breer is on with Dan Patrick right now and just said that in 2018 Ohio State put serious consideration into Matt Campbell. Mentioned he wasn't sure if that information ever went public or not.

You'll never convince me that him hiring Doyle immediately in the wake of U of Iowa's very public racism scandal wasn't a key component of the Jags locker room souring on Urb right away.

The comparisons for Urban that I was thinking of were Bobby Petrino and Lou Holtz, although neither were as high profile as Urban when they were hired in the NFL. But both were spectacular failures in the pros.

Columbus would have burned to the ground if they would have hired Campbell in 2018.
