***CFB Conference Championship Games Thread***

KF's worst nightmare. In a quick hole and forced to respond early.

Again EVERYONE with a brain wants this, and may that actually happen sooner rather than later.

But we were/are discussing the merits of Iowa making the CFP in THIS current system.
yeah I think Iowa would have an argument for the 3rd or 4th spots in the current system if they convincingly beat michigan

they would be another 11-2 conference champion

realistically, I think they have no shot however since the obscure committee would probably shove in some sec team and ignore whatever changing criteria they have

The one reason I absolutely wish the conference champs would get a spot in an expanded playoff is because then games like this current ACC Championship actually means something. And damn is it entertaining so far.

I heard the ACC actually has been a big thorn in the playoff expansion particularly around the number of teams and guaranteed conference champs getting in. The College Enquirer podcast with Thames, Forde and Wetzel talked about it and they said it best, “Yes ACC continue to make your conference championship game worthless so nobody has a reason to turn in. Your league is doing oh so well.”

Great podcast btw.

Baylor deserves it way more than Iowa with their resume and it isn’t close. So again the Hawks are out.

The problem with the winner of the conference championship game getting an automatic bid is when one division has 3 or 4 teams better than the best team in the other division.... like the B1G this year.

Iowa is the 4th or 5th best B1G team this season.... yet they are in the championship game. That's not right.... especially when they didn't even play the top 3 teams in the conference this season.

well maybe the big 10 should figure out a new way to crown conference champion

re-organize the divisions? auto-give it to the team with the highest recruiting class? I don't really care but if they're going to have a championship game, it should matter

Would have gotten PI on that if Petras hadn't thrown it 15 yds out of bounds.

Just put the two highest ranked teams in the B1G championship game, what a thought!

So that’s the guys on the podcasts other point. All conference MUST ditch divisions and go to a more Big 12 model where the top two play. Can be top two by conference record or with the conferences that have a ton of teams so you dodge a lot of teams (cough Iowa) it’s done by CFP ranking the week before the championship or something. Either way you will run the risk of upsets happening but that’s sports. We would have never had teams like the New York Giants winning their recent two Super Bowls.

But a set criteria is what is needed across the board.

And there’s the mistake folks. You knew Iowa wasn’t going to get housed. Curse you early celebrators.
