***CFB Conference Championship Games Thread***

The worlds most flexible man could not bend and shift enough ways to maneuver through any logical argument to prove that Iowa is one of the 4 best teams in the country

I think in an ideal system, you have the conference championships as the extended playoff and then you have the champions face off in the real playoff

with the current system, I believe Iowa would be in the discussion for the 3rd or 4th spot if they won today and obliterated michigan

do I think they are one of the 4 best teams in the country in terms of talent? no

do I think they are deserving of being in the discussion if they are the champions of the big 10? yes

Everyone agrees, or at least most do, with what you WANT the system to be. But it isn’t that system and you aren’t jumping Iowa from 13 to 4 for a single win otherwise the committee can really be called on its BS for just making sure the Big Ten and SEC have a team in there. If the committee thought Iowa was worthy with a win over Michigan to make the CFP they should have ranked them appropriately last week to make it make sense. But they don’t think Iowa is a top 4 team regardless because they ranked them behind Baylor, Ole Miss, Ohio State etc when it comes to 2-loss teams.

yeah I think it's more likely that michigan just wins and then I believe michigan's resume is deserving of going to the playoff

fwiw, I also don't think michigan is a top 4 team in terms of talent

Of course Michigan is in if they win. That’s not even a question.

And wait what you think Iowa should be in with a win but you don’t think Michigan is top-4 talent wise so they would only be in because you guess their resume deserves it? You literally make no sense.

I'm a few pages behind, but FBS football is the only level of competitive football where the playoffs are dependent on a committee. Every other level if you win your conference, division, district, etc. you have a chance at winning a championship. Obviously Iowa is not a top 4 or 8 team in the country, but if they win their conference they should absolutely get a chance to compete for the national title. The 4 team playoff is the worst thing that's ever happened to the sport, but NIL is quickly chasing that down

Yeah, im not sure why that's so hard to get.

Are the teams in the final 4\elite 8\sweet 16 the best 4\8\16 teams every year? Absolutely not.

The teams that did the best in the regular season got positioned most favorably, but from then on, its all decided on the field. Not by some shady committee.
