How is South Bend to raise children? That might be the last thing we have left to hold on to.
South Bend is Cedar Rapids without Notre Dame.

After hearing these ridiculous new salary levels for coaches, I got to thinking.I think ND can have the best of both worlds. They can appease some of the decision-makers, players and recruits (and apparently fanbase) and go with Freeman. They can give it three years, and most likely Campbell is still at ISU and available. ND seems to give everyone at least 3 years, and the history suggests 2/3 seasons with 6 or fewer wins and you're gone.
I hope all this silliness in coaching salaries finally helps everybody wake up, including Jay Bilas. People have always fell for the Bilas BS that the exploitation of athletes was benefiting "the universities." It always has been and always will be the coaches that are the individuals making all the money off these kids. I hope that fake intellectual finally has figured that out instead of simultaneously crying about player exploitation while praising what great people coaches are.
I'm not worked up at all about what happens here, with the conferences, or playoffs in the future. CFB is so jacked up I'm not sure if I'll stay much of a fan. If Campbell sticks around, that's incredible, and I'll keep watching. But I'm not sure CFB is long for the world.
I don’t think this helps us..
Soo... Did ND not have a 10 am press conference?

Agree. Was hoping it wouldn't come up because BK felt he might get the head coaching gig and not want to meddle with that.
Not sure how that would work. For one, the hours aren't the same. too, not all players on scholly play where as obviously the head coach as long as he's at that school, is the head coach. So you can have a back up OL who never plays get part of what the head coach makes?IDK....After hearing these ridiculous new salary levels for coaches, I got to thinking.
Shouldn't it be 50% head coach, 50% players? As in whatever a head coach is getting in salary, that similar amount is allocated as a percentage to all scholarship athletes.
Can't open. What's the content?
Only if you think freeman would turn down the ND HC job to be LSU’s defensive coordinator. Because if he’s not offered the ND job, it’s likely irrelevant
I'm late to this party but I'm here to say I think Jim Leonhard will make an excellent head coach someday. I was a big fan of his when he played at Wisconsin, dude was an animal and hit like a mule kicks... that is all.

Freeman is already likely too expensive for JP, and being the highest paid DC isn’t much of an increased barrier. Either he’d be interested in ISU/Cincy, or he wouldn’t. The offer from LSU for what’s not THAT much more from ND isn’t changing thatThe Freeman thing is not relevant to ND head job because Freeman would take that over LSU DC. But it might matter if ND gets Fickell or Campbell because Freeman could decide to go to LSU over taking the HC job at Cincy or ISU.
Why would anyone vote Tom Manning? He needs to go whether or not Campbell is gone or not. He’s a horrible coach.
