I'm not saying get rid of him right now but is it just me or does it seem like the players are afraid to make a mistake because they feel threatened by gmac?

A classic example is when we have a possibility of a fast break, and we pull it back because they are afraid of being chewed out for "going to fast."

I'm tired of this slow paced half court offense the entire game. At least with WM it was entertaining...

Next season our excuse will be that these new athletes that are gonna "save us" are new to our system and freshmen. The year after that our excuse will be that we lost some experienced players to graduation (or at least ran out of eligibility). That and that we didn't get HB whom any coach other than GMac would have a shot at.

I loved how GMac said on the post-game show that "we had two of the best practices of the year" prior to this game. Seemed to be a calculated statement to tell fans that tonight was not the "real" Cyclones...

or Darrius Darks saying theres to many white people in Iowa,

Well that sure is the truth. Look at statistics. By what you were implying is race is the issue we lost assuming that black athletes are obviously better then white athletes. Pretty pathetic to read that race is still an issue in this world.

agree nothing is worse than being bad and boring. Throw me a bone and AT LEAST be bad and entertaining.

What's the resolution then?

not trying to agree with this race issue, but when is the last time North Carolina started 4 white players. We've done it, and recently. Surely if there were as many great white players as black players North Carolina would find them, right? Or is North Carolina reverse racist...unlikely in the south.

Maybe you should bitc* him out then. Look at the statistics in NCAA college basketball, more black athletes than white.

Why? the fact that you have to bring him into this, makes you look even more pathetic and desperate into attempting to shield what you really meant with what you said. That was a moronic thing to say, you didnt even have the slightest bit of sarcasm with it either.

For those of you pining for Altman: He is not going ANYWHERE after Creighton allowed him to come crawling back with his tail between his legs following the Arkansas debacle.

That might be more a reflection of socioeconomic status, not racism. If you look historically at ethnic minority groups, which are over-represented in athletics, it has much more to do with socioeconomic status than it does race. (Example: the influx of jewish players in the NBA several decades ago)

Note: socioeconomic evidence might imply a sort of race-inequality, but to imply that sports are reverse-racist is backwards logic.

I agree. Altman will finish his career in Omaha. It's possible he's just a mid-major coach. Some guys can't cut it in the major conferences. It's a different game on the court and in the recruiting arena.

Excuse? You didn't notice that Iowa played well at home, and got trashed at Drake? You didn't notice that generally speaking (aside from a bland home crowd with the students gone) we play better at home? Such is the way of any freshmen. They play better at home than on the road.

What, you missed the whole "There's ONE player in the program who's been here more than a year and a half"? You missed that our best player transferred at the end of last year, after it was too late to recruit a replacement? You missed that the only point guard on the team the year before was kicked off, just before the season, when it was far too late to recruit an adequate replacement?

When bad stuff happens, you don't just turn over a new leaf overnight. There's a reason Chris Colvin thinks he's going to see a lot of playing time next season. And Gilstrap, too.

Care to support that claim with facts?

Even so, the reason this program is in such bad shape (however bad that is) is because it fell apart. It started sucking as Eustachy's drinking problem worsened, and went into the ******** as we fired coach after coach. Firing another coach sure as hell won't help.

That's an old argument, and patently untrue. If an accountant embezzles millions of dollars, is the CEO held responsible? If the union goes on strike, with patently unreasonable demands, is the CEO held responsible? Not hardly.
Hmmm. You have a very selective memory when replying to posts. You say in response to Cyballs that teams are much better at home than on the road. Well, than why have we lost two in a row at home to Drake? Why did we just lose to a pitiful opponent at home in SDSU?

I would like to support my claim that 95% of programs in the BCS conferences are in better shape than us, but I'm not going to take the time...better things to do. However, the proof is in the pudding. Our oncourt progress has been despicable, as well as our w/l records. It seems you are more into having stability in losing, than trying to win.

Finally, your argument about the accountant embezzling not being the CEO's fault is embarrassing. GMac in corporate terms would be the immediate boss of our players, because he has complete control over which "employees" he hires. Any boss in the real world who has complete control over an employee that does great detrament to the company is going to be heavily questioned as to how he/she could allow that to happen to the company. Does this make sense to you? I hope so, because with all due respect you aren't making much sense to me.
