The Jackrabbits did exactly what they had to to stop us: guard the three. They did exactly what they had to to beat us: go inside. They switched around a lot, and cycled their players in to keep them fresh. I saw a pretty good team beat us tonight. Granted, we should win these games, because our players are better, faster, bigger, etc. Eik was gassed tonight, watched him panting as he came out of the game. Lucca was barely missing, and Brackins had a lid on the basket again.

But, we look a lot smoother this year than last. We've had a couple of down games lately, and Hawaii just got away from us, with our best player fouled out at the end. We have Petersen stepping up to lead, when it should be Garrett and Brackins. We are going to have a couple more games like this this year, so buckle down fans.

Thompson is coming around, when he's not fouling, and Petersen is a steady player out there. Brackins has his down games, but when he's on, wow. Admit it, he's been better this year, just not up to our expectations. Not his fault. Lucca had surgery, and is working his way back up to game speed. He's starting, and he's improving. Eik had a freshman night. Garrett will pick it up, he did this last year, too. Just takes him a while to get into it. And it doesn't look like you can force him into it, either.

It's gonna be a rocky ride, but there will be some diamonds this year. Count on it.

Face it. If you aren't attacking the basket and being agressive you will be a bottom feader in the big 12. Too sad.

I must be watching a different game. Yes Brackins sucks at attacking the basket, but Garrett attacks the basket as well as anyone. The problem is that he rarely dishes it, and he doesn't shoot a high percentage from the field or the free throw lane. We just don't have the talent we'd like to think we do. If we could switch point guards with Drake or SDSU, ISU would have won those games. Hopefully Colvin will be the answer next year. If not, I'll finally be ready to throw in the towel.

Man....I've supported this guy pretty much the whole way but this is freakin' pathetic!!!! SDSU does NOT come into Hilton and win.....ever!!!!! This may be the end of my support for GMAC. Seriously, they can come in and make it 'closer than it should be' but this is really, really bad!
My biggest concern with him was not on court execution but recruiting...my concerns were clearly bass-ackwards.

Please. Against this schedule that is terrible and frankly if you have any hope of any noise being made in the Big 12 I'd love some of the crack rock you are smoking.

ISU should quit wasting all this money on sports and just get behind Cy in online mascot polls. At least we will win that and it won't cost us(taxpayers) anything.

We are young .... I have some doubts, but I would rather write this year off then fire the guy.

Posted the same thing in the football forum. What you have written here is exactly why ISU Athletics has the lousy reputation and tradition that it does. We continually write off year after year after year. How LONG does it take to put a decent BB team on the court? In a country with 10,000 high schools is it really that impossible to find 4-5 players who want to play ball at a high major school.

I am done with patience and excuses. These people are paid salaries that most of us can only dream of to produce WINNING teams. Start winning or find yourself another line of work. All of us in the 'real' world deal with these same pressures daily. Why do these people get pass after pass for failure?

Went to the game tonight and I am at a loss as to describe how I feel. I can't remember a game as bad as the one tonight. ISU got completely man handled by the SDSU. This is going to be a tough one for the fans to recover from. I feel sorry for the players, but what about the fans that tried to watch tonights game. I am going to limit my complaints to one: It seems this team is loaded with shooters because no one can pass worth a crap.

Don't know...but good recruits doesn't mean crap if they aren't put in a position to win.

You can have the best players out there, but if they are not coached right then the so called talented players fall very behind someone who may not posess natural talent. I feel bad for our players playing in this no movement offense it is soooo damn boring to watch and by the way coach does not work!!!! Your players deserve better than this and where is your heart coach?? Looks like to me it is not there and if you do not have it your players feed off of that. Good job players sorry your head coach is not up to par yet.

How do you think Steve Alford hung around so long at Iowa? Everyone was scared of losing recruits. Big deal. The right coach at ISU could win and win early without any of our future verbals.

I know many of you want Greg McDermott gone, but what does it say to potential coaches that we keep losing these guys.

2005/06 - Wayne Morgan fired. McD hired.
2006/07 - McCarney fired. Chizik hired.
2007/08 was the only year of stability as far as coaches go.
2008/09 - Chizik quits. Rhoads hired.

And now you want McDermott gone in the same breath?

I know you're tired, I know tensions are high, but this guy deserves another year with the crap he's had to put up with.

if jamie fired greg tomorrow and i'll just say hired a qualified coach i think we would have the same chance at landing HB..IMO. but that doesn't mean anything because there is no chance in h e double hockey sticks that HB wants to play for GMAC. Hope this prediction is wrong though. ive been wrong before

All of us in the 'real' world deal with these same pressures daily. Why do these people get pass after pass for failure?

Maybe it's because their job depends on eighteen year old kids? Or because there were problems they inherited, rather than created?

This program has been in flux for a long time now, you realize. Since Tinsley and Fizer left. There are no quick fixes. It just doesn't happen.
