This place keeps me sane and makes me laugh, especially when the one-liners and double entendre remarks are made by those of my general age. Carry on!

I'm going to DM and Ames this weekend. My daughter voluntold me that I am going to be a guinea pig for a biochemistry science research study Friday afternoon. If you don't hear from me after that you'll know why.

My wife will be keeping most of my stuff but you could probably divvy up the IPAs in the fridge and some of the clothes.

We had our toy run Sunday. Absolutely beautiful day yet turnout was lousy. On the plus side someone posted a video panning across the tables and I was in the background and didn't look like an immense fat freak.

I picked up an expresso addiction during the rona. Pour a little expresso beans into your other grounds. I now am like half expresso and half coffee. Pretty soon I’ll probably be addicted to crack.

Makes me think I should get a little expresso maker. Old Krup Caffe Duomo (RIP) that finally died this year had an expresso maker. Never much did the steam frothing etc but did like a straight expresso in some little cups once in a while.

You guys are making me want to go up and make another cup in my 20 year old little Melitta single or double travel mug coffee maker. Works great for a cup as well. Since nobody else at Chez Velo drinks the eau de bean it works great for me. We have a bigger carafe maker stored away for when the in-laws visit.

Debated it but figured that would have more pressure on it. Only one other guy was at Joy when we were there so nearly had it to ourselves.

Next time you decide to venture north to stream country shoot me a message and I'll ask my cousin where he's going. He is in Strawberry Point and posts lots of pics of trout. Takes his grandkids out to his spots.

Never trout fished but my dad used to take my sister and I fishing below the park dams. Even with cane poles or plastic kids Zebcos we were always catching lots of crappies. Got spoiled. Didn't dawn on me till I was an adult that we only went when the fishing was hot based on tips from the park manager who was my dad's friend. Little Boxster thought fishing = catching.

I mean, I probably already knew this, but you Iowans eat too much pizza and too many donuts.

Coming up on two years since I had quick station donut, maybe when tripping back from last basketball game I was at season 2019-2020. Probably my last McDonalds stop to, I do a stop at Mason City/Clear Lake intersection and get a couple small easy to drive snack hamburgers to eat in the car. Did have my first donut in well over a year when I visited my sister earlier in the summer. It was Iowa so of course she had some donuts. They were not very good.

We will treat ourselves to Cafe Donuts every once in a great while - in Minnesota no less. ;)

My coffee maker is supposedly an 8 cup but I get 4 mugs out of it which is perfect for the morning.

Pre-retirement I did like to grab a Danish from the shop in the building. Small convenience store thingie but whoever they got their pastries from was pretty good. Thing was they would only have like a dozen total donuts/pastries and late arriving me would get shutout frequently. The other thing I like about these was they weren't giant ass pastries big enough to feed three people. Right sized they were which helped me justify the indulgence.

There is a place called Cardigan Doughnuts in the City Center that I have never tried despite walking by there often. The doughnuts are so expensive I've never tried them. They have half price day old doughnuts every day and they are still more than what I usually pay. I have no idea how they get enough business to stay in business, but they are often packed when I walk by at the right time of day.

Look at Starbucks. They get a premium price for what amounts to be a coffee flavored milk shake.

Black coffee guy. If you have to add sugar and cream and stuff to make your coffee palatable it means (in my case anyway) your coffee is either too strong or too bitter. Exception is super cold ass post snow shovelings or post sub-zero walkabout. That justifies a treat of coffee with some cocoa mix and cream topping, maybe with some Kahlua.

Welp officially decided that we will take the house off the market and wait until spring if nothing happens by Halloween.
