*** OFFICIAL MATT CAMPBELL TO USC RUMOR THREAD ***

I don’t think USC is a fit for Campbell at all.

We just need to get used to the fact his name will come up every time a significant job opens up in college football.

Maybe the Franklin to USC rumor does make me a little uneasy though. That means Penn State opens up. I don’t think it’s quite Ohio State Michigan level of concern, but it’s probably next on the list.

From a historical standpoint, I would say its a lateral move. But going to the PAC12 would be an easier path to the CFP than being in a division with Ohio State.

If this logic were true no decent coach would ever want to be in the SEC east with Alabama.

Penn State has the tradition, resources, and support to be as good as anyone if it has the right coach. If Franklin can't get over the hump in Happy Valley I see no reason why that would change in LA. Not saying he wouldn't consider it, as I have no idea what his aspirations are, but I still think it's a lateral move.

Time and likely money will tell though.

Hope Franklin doesn't end up at USC. I'd feel pretty sick to my stomach about that PSU job being open and right in Campbell's home roots back yard.

Franklin does this every few years. He’s getting a big payday from PSU

USC is like Texas - amazing resources and yet constantly underachieve. Some day they will fall into luck again, but it won't be because of their own making. IF they get the right coach, USC could be a force... but with such mediocre fans and a horrible administration, it's going to take some luck along the way.

USC did pretty well with Pete Carroll. Just need the right coach, at any and every school...

Its this kind of garbage that is why we don’t deserve good things.
Its a defense mechanism. And glass half full :D

Its not all about PSU vs USC. He might be leveraging a raise. He might be thinking he's peaked or due for a regression and want to get out. He might just have a girl friend in Pasadena, who knows. While CA will take lots of his money, where would you rather live?

There are a lot of places I would live before I would move to Southern California.

It will be ok. At least he will take Manning with him, and Iowa State will be the better for it

I know you are joking around.. But I'm afraid that some won't get the joke and take it serious

If we are making any changes... Gordon needs to be the first one out the door. QB1's have only regressed since he took over. Manning called some great plays on Saturday. Brock just underthrew some WIDE OPEN wr's that were several yards in front of the defender.. See the video below. The ball NEEDS to come out at the 3 second mark when Hutch is exploding past the defender.

Perhaps but LA or State College? If I'm making a few mil, I'd be happy to put up with LA.
That's you. But it isn't out of the realm of possibility that a Ohio guy might prefer to stay in that area. Especially a guy who grew up in a small city.

Regardless, I posted about me. There are a lot of places I would prefer to live before that part of the country.

Why does everyone assume he wants to go back to Ohio? I'm from the Midwest and have no desire to live there. Making 5 million a year in LA would be just fine by me. I wouldn't want to live there as a normal person but NY and LA would be awesome if you could afford it.
