Texted my cousin in Strawbeerry Point to message me if I need to come down and dig him out of the rubble of his house. My way of saying "Heads up, dude, weather coming your way!" He checked the weather and was "Oh, ****!"

Looks nasty right now, hoping it falls apart before getting here. We need rain too but not that.

@NWICY love that pepper idea, just told dh last night we should try stuffing peppers, ours this year are huuuuuge. Taco seasoning is a great idea. I did 1x in the past different recipe and they were gross.

A couple of weeks ago someone must have driven right through the round about, lost control and taken out the light pole.
The city still hasn't done anything with it outside of putting a cone out to mark the top of it.

I walked past it today and was wondering how big was the vehicle and how fast must they have been going to flatten it out like this.

The roundabout on our street has absolutely nothing but a lot of poorly kept grass on it. I am often tempted to get a tree and sneak it out there in the middle of the roundabout so that there is something there for the next 40+ years. But then I remember how I see tracks crossing straight (relatively :p) across that roundabout a few times every winter.

One of the problems with what they built by me is the roundabout is the same color as the road. They need to paint the curb around it. Might make it stand out a bit more because all of the signs aren't doing the trick.

Thunder for 45 minutes or so for a half hour of sprinkles to rain ended up with .2 better than nothing.

After day 2 of homeschool, kiddo has completed everything scheduled for the week.
Knew it would happen, but it's pretty wild to see how quickly this goes when she kind of goes at her own pace. (I say kind of because I pull back a little when it looks like she's drifting or had enough of something).

She's loving her coding class. I think she liked the Spanish one, but you can see that the full immersion method that teacher uses is pretty draining as she gets used to it.

Science Meme of the Day... (didn't think this would go anywhere as a thread, was I wrong yet again?) View attachment 88445
Heisenberg, Schrodinger and Ohm are in a car

They get pulled over. Heisenberg is driving and the cop asks him "Do you know how fast you were going?"
"No, but I know exactly where I am" Heisenberg replies.
The cop says "You were doing 55 in a 35." Heisenberg throws up his hands and shouts "Great! Now I'm lost!"
The cop thinks this is suspicious and orders him to pop open the trunk. He checks it out and says "Do you know you have a dead cat back here?"
"We do now, *******!" shouts Schrodinger.
The cop moves to arrest them. Ohm resists.

Went 2.5 hour walkabout in nature preserve looking for a lesser bitten, not super a common bird here and I've never seen one, but did not spy. Chatted with other peeps looking for it. Did get some decent pics of an egret taking flight, something I've been after some, so not a totes waste of time. Good walking if you like hot and humid. ;) Also spied a creepy looking albino gray squirrel. Damn, it was really rat like and seeing it up close was not as cool as I thought.

Random observation, a big eastern pondhawk dragonfly is pretty colorful.

Getting head hunted for a job in Charlotte at a non profit. Marginally more money, 40 hr week, get the hell out of Iowa. Only downside is a few direct reports. Guess it's worth having a chat with them at least.

Hey having minions isn't so bad. Is that NC?

Not impressed with the Alumni association as of this point. I joined back up after many years not being one. Debated the lifetime or just doing the one year. Decided on one year incase I didn't care for it. Been about a month since I joined, and I basically got an email from Mr Jeff Johnson (two weeks after joining), and that is it. Said I should receive my membership information and other stuff soon. Not sure what soon is. This very well may be a one and done if this is how the AA rolls.

I have debated joining and getting involved with the Linn County club but yeah I just don't see the value there.
