Preseason AP Top 25 Poll Released

Danny saying we "dodged Iowa" last year is fu**in hilarious!! I would have loved to play Petras to start the season..

Can't wait for CyHawk
Iowa 'dodged' ISU. One team had to cancel (and it wasn't ISU). I consider it a forfeit even though I don't claim 10 wins like I probably would if I was a hok homer and the situation was reversed.

It was our greatest team of all time. It's literally impossible to "dodge" somebody under those circumstances.

I think the guy lacks a basic grasp of the language and simple logic.

I will say both teams looked like crap the first couple weeks. Petras didn't make a decent throw over 10 yards until his third or fourth game.

We were dodging teams the way the '85 Bears did.

How does one "dodge" teams in their best season in 100+ years?

Now our basketball team could possibly have dodged a few games last year theoretically.

They had plenty of rest last season... :jimlad:

I will say at least Indiana legitimately impressed in their short season. I don't have a problem with them starting out high, they're in the same boat as us in some ways.

Not like those years Minnesota played 8 horrible teams, won 7 games and somehow got ranked because Big Ten team with decent record.

So what type of expectation does this mean for you all? Loss to Iowa ok? OU? Anyone else? How many total losses before it feels like we underperformed?

I'm definitely wanting an Iowa victory for a change, but not at all costs. Obviously a split with OU would be pretty good still, rather win the 2nd this time! If we lost both those the b12 champ gets us back to NY6? I'm not a prognosticator, just curious about others thoughts on how the season might go.

Rece has definitely had the inside track on ESPN's overall plans. Hes been a **** to ISU for years, and now we know why. Herbie too! ESPN has been a sham for a long time looking back.

Indiana didn’t do anything.
- benefitted from a blown call to beat Penn State in OT, who was on its way to an 0-4 start
- Came back to get it close vs OSU
- beat Michigan who won two games, including a 3OT thriller vs Rutgers
- Beat 4-3 Wisconsin
- Lost to 4-5 Ole Miss.
- beat Maryland, Rutgers, and MSU, who were a combined 7-14

It’s wild to say as an Iowa State fan, but I’d be disappointed if we don’t win 10 games in the regular season with THIS team. That’s a loss to Oklahoma and a loss to someone we shouldn’t lose to this year. and we CAN beat Oklahoma.

But I’m eying the playoffs.

The best thing Indiana accomplished in 2020 was a close loss to Ohio State. They objectively did not deserve anything close to an NY6 bowl and there's very few things that brought me more schadenfreude than their bowl loss to Ole Miss after the fit they threw over the bowl they got

There’s definitely going to be some epic meltdowns after the first loss of it isn’t to Oklahoma. I think some people look at the lopsided wins at the end of the year on teams dealing with COVID breakouts and think that’s how the whole season will look.
News flash. There are epic meltdowns on this board after every loss. Always have been, always will be.

And trailing at halftimes isn’t very pretty, either.

Ok you actually changed a mind on a message board :)

First step is not letting UNI even think twice about believing they can win.

Agree with all of this... the b10 was bad last year. I will say they lost their qb in the maryland game and were not the same after that. They may have beaten ole miss if they have him. But that said, they were bad and got a huge ratings boost when they beat then no. 8 psu (game 1) who ended up with a losing record.
