Preseason AP Top 25 Poll Released

Agreed, ISU has graduated from needing pundit attention to feel good about itself. We'll never get the treatment of elite programs. We aren't elite yet in any case.
Frankly, I wouldn't mind losing the hype. Just want to CMC machine go to work and deliver the results.
IMO the difference between this squad and the last few will be patience. They know they can move the ball on anyone and will take what they can get matchup wise. We may take the occasional shot downfield but for the most part we will be content just picking defenses apart and mixing in the run game. If we can run the ball moderately, Iowa will be in trouble. They feast on one dimensional teams and we certainly aren't in that category.
As high as 5th on 3 ballots and as low as 13th on a single ballot. 4 other ballots had us at either 11 or 12. The rest were all 6-9.
Putting down ISU is just a game to him now. He’s a total clown show and we should never let him set foot on campus again.
But simultaneously Oklahoma moving to the SEC shakes the foundation of college football because they are so awesome yet ISU has beat them or played them down to the wire for several years straight.
I think Clemson is overrated. But then again, only Georgia stands in their way and that is their lead off game. #72 SOS.

Hahaha, you guys need to calm down. He's probably never cared about ISU either way, but now you've made yourselves fun to toy with. That's even if you want to credit his poll vote to hating ISU, which is ridiculous and honestly funny if true.
Ohio State is Ohio State, Indiana returns quite a few starters and their QB, EIU returns their back 7 on defense, plus one of the better Olineman in the country at center, their RB and their QB, but he was horrible last year.
Penn State and Wisconsin get the "it was a Covid year" treatment and are there on name only and what they have done in the past.
Only way ISU is out in that situation is if ACC, SEC, Big 10, and either USC or Oregon from the PAC 12 all have one undefeated team.

Iowa State listed as an overrated team. we'll see a lot of this i'm sure. mentions Purdy inconsistency as their reason for not fully believing. can't argue a ton with that.
but i love that we are starting top 10, cause we've seen that matters for getting into playoffs later or whatever bowl it is. unfortunately pre season rankings actually do matter. first time getting this kind of advantage for us.

I hate the guy now, but I recall when Tom Herman was OC here he said something along the lines of "if you average four yards a play, you'll win games." That's this ISU team. Big shots? Maybe. Kill you four yards at a time with Breece and Co.? Absolutely.
Wow such a mind blowing thing that the #7 ranked team could end up in the playoff.
We could lose to OU once and still make the playoff
In the synopsis of why Iowa State is overrated, the author mentioned ND and Oregon being more talented. It’s insane the level of disrespect we receive. How are we overrated at 7 but Cinci isn't at 8? We finished 9th in AP last year and return almost everybody from last year, and 7th is overrated? I mean, I know why, but JFC there are just a lot of idiots out there with too many useless jobs to do.
