I wouldn’t think we see any expansion soon. Byu is the only one that makes sense. The rest will always be there. Expanding is the absolute last resort.
If the Pac12 and Big12 remnants come together, I think only KU, ISU, Okie State and maybe K-State or TT are considered
If Pac12 would take Baylor or TCU, then they would have to strongly consider BYU.
Also I see no way Houston is a fit for Pac12. IMO they would consider SDSU and UNLV first.
Big12 would only have rights to that game every other year anyway. I don’t think we add a team from maryland to our footprint.Who cares? Army-Navy will always be on its own special weekend, so it will always get incredibly high viewership, and it’ll be worth lots of money accordingly.
Navy is not a bad football-only option if the conference was looking that way but I assume they would want to grab 2-4 full members and call it good. Football-only members screams small time/G5 to me.
I would honestly pay money without question if there was a streaming service that just ran banner ads on the sides all game long but didn’t have “commercial breaks” meaning you just got continuous commentary during breaks instead. Or even if they didn’t have commentary and just showed the huddles and stuff like that, showed the actual halftime show at halftime, etc.Yes it's an interesting business model. Amazon Prime and video programing is same as Google, Facebook, etc for potential advertising revenue.
Even in advertising free programing Amazon can add links/banners at bottom of screen.
I'm not so sure about that.
You got that right. ESPN can go pound sand for $45/month.So, root for things to go a la carte sooner than later? Because no way in hell am I paying $45 for SEC games. ESPN has just been hiding with the other cable stations in symbiosis. Used to be that everyone wanted ESPN and not the other cable stations…this realignment move changes things for me.
I think he also said the best view of BYU was in the rear view mirror. Saying that, count me in for BYU addition. Would be a nice trip to the mountains for a game too.Q--"What's your favorite memory of BYU?"
A-- "Leaving."

These threads are fascinating, and deeply depressing at the same time.
Iowa State to the AAC, or even an expanded "Big 12", is a really big step down.
I know. And tomorrow I will be back, hoping for the best.Everyone knows that. We are talking about the options of the B1G or PAC invite doesn’t come. What’s your other option? Close the university?
Am I the only one who remembers where the SEC was pre 2000's? Just like smart ADs (good here), smart coaches (good here), etc, the conference needs a mega smart director (verdict is not out, but not looking good).Everyone knows that. We are talking about the options of the B1G or PAC invite doesn’t come. What’s your other option? Close the university?
What are the odds that A&M would be so pissed at Texas that they would come back to the big12

0 percent. Texas A&M will soon cash a $80M/year check from the SEC...they're not going anywhere. Take your bitter Longhorn medicine with a spoonful of sweet $$$$$$.If the Texas athletic department sent their teams over to burn down all the Texas A&M facilities, I would put the odds of them joining the Big 12 at 1 in 4.
It was pretty good in the 1990s with Alabama under Stallings (1992), Florida under Spurrier (1996) and Tennessee under Fulmer (1998) each winning a National Championship after they expanded and started the SEC Championship Game in 1992.Am I the only one who remembers where the SEC was pre 2000's? The weirdness of a Mormon school is nothing compared the cabal Ken Starr ran at Baylor.
BYU would be an athletics power in the PAC.
Not disagreeing about Baylor, but how much time have you spent in Utah to gauge the level of weirdness?
Don't want to take it to the cave but I'm pretty aware and not a fan.
Weird (or even morally wrong) as it may be I've not seen anything like the university running a massive rape syndicate or a university president that has helped operate multiple rape syndicates.
It would be incredibly hypocritical for our conference to consider any school unworthy on moral or religious grounds when Baylor's athletic department was allowed to just go on like business as usual.
