I'd like to dedicate this tweet to @ImJustKCClone and her western Texas roots.

As a very young boy, my father used to go out and find the first bluebonnet of spring for his mother. Each time we went down for his birthday these last few years, we would stop along the way so I could pick a handful of bluebonnets for Daddy. I love them. I wish I could grow healthy ones here, but our winters are too cold, and we have too much shade on our land for the annual variety to take hold and really bloom. :(

It's not justified. First of all, Boseman is GREAT is Ma Rainey's Black Bottom...but his part is actually supporting NOT lead so he was put in the wrong category by the academy. Same can be said for Daniel Kaluuya who won best supporting actor for Judas and the Black Messiah...he was 100% a lead. If would have gone lead and Boseman supporting in their respective films, they both very likely would have won.

The sad part is that people are pissed at Anthony Hopkins for winning...like what the ****. What did he do wrong in any of this besides knock his role out of the park? He didn't even show up to the show because he's not an awards type of guy and really thought Boseman was going to win and said he should have in a post awards video.

We're treading into stupidity territory when people think someone should win because they died suddenly or because someone hasn't gotten an Oscar yet while someone else has two. Isn't the award SUPPOSED to be based on actual performance not if they're overdue or other circumstances? So many on Twitter are saying 'Hopkins and McDormand don't deserve it because they've won already'. That makes zero sense to me. If they gave the best performances of the year, and both did in my opinion, then they are fully deserved.

What are your thoughts on Heath Ledger and his win?

And 100% warranted. She's not a run of the mill normal Hollywood actress and that really rubs a lot of people the wrong way. She doesn't get all fancied up for awards. Her roles aren't glamorous...but she is one of the most loved actresses in the industry, period, end of story. AND she she's playing Lady Macbeth opposite Denzel this year in a new Coen Brothers movie...so she's gonna be nominated again.

She has three Best Actress Oscars. She's only been nominated for Best Actress three times...she's never lost when nominated in that category. That's insane.
The first movie I ever saw her in was "Blood Simple" another Coen Bros movie.

I just found two packets of seeds from who knows how long ago. They likely were giveaways at a conference. It says plant in fall, so I'm going to try them eventually.

They will grow here as annuals if they get enough sun. As far as I know, however they are not likely to overwinter and return the next year. Good luck though! Take pictures if you get them to bloom. :)

So, trying to work a student through her truthiness/cheating problems.
Sent her an e-mail with first directions to get this going.

She Zoomed into class (pre-arranged, but that would be fine anyway) and stayed to talk the project after class.
I asked if she got my e-mail from earlier today. Answer: "No, professor. I can't check my email. My wifi isn't working."

Sounds legit to me.

100% deserved but that was 100% a supporting role not a lead role so he was in the right category. Boseman was not a lead in Ma Rainey. He was screwed over by the placement in Best Actor. Hopkins was in nearly 100% of every frame of The Father. Boseman was like 45%. That being said...Boseman, while not a true Best Actor placement he was by FAR a more Best Actor placement than his counterpart Viola Davis who was up for Best Actress in the same movie but her screen time was like 25%!?!

Ledger's performance was a shoo-in win whether he unfortunately passed away or not. Many think if Boseman was still alive he wouldn't have been as much of a threat to win as he was after his death and furthermore, many think he should have been nominated for his BETTER role this past year in Da 5 Bloods.

Looking at the forecast for Saturday, that might be a good day to get on the bike in the morning and make a trip over to Ames to check out the stadium updates in person.

I am proud to say that we (Beisser Lumber) have been hauling a lot of material to that project. A local contractor is doing the concrete work.

Had a virtual appointment with my pulmonologist in IC yesterday. Things are pretty static - no worse, no better. I started a gluten-free diet February 1 (yeah, it sucks) and she wants me to continue it for another 3 months. Then she'll do another breathing test and a CT scan so see if the inflammation has gone down. If not, then I'll probably begin yet another med call CellCept.

So, overall it's good. Have to stay positive.

I had most of the windows open in the house last night. The problem is I still had the thermostat turned on so my furnace was running like crazy. Whoopsies.

I learned a lesson last night. Nurses (or at least MrsWx) don't like to come to a house that has a temp in the 80s...so the A/C got turned on. Windows were opened again at like 4 when the dogs woke me up.

I turned my AC on Monday. It was 77 in the house and it was still 88 out. They still don't have the screen for the one window I need to get a breeze going through the house. My only other option is to cut a piece of wood down so I can only open the patio door about 2 inches and leave that open at night. Then I can open a few other windows and get a nice breeze through the house.
