Sooo what were people’s thoughts on FatWS episode 6?

A bit of a letdown. Series really peaked for me episodes 3-4. Hope there is a twist on powerbroker as too predictable.

Very strange the acceptance of Walker.

And disappointed that Bucky mostly overshadowed. The pacing was not good in this episode

Good, but not great. I enjoyed the series overall, but I agree with the poster above that the middle stretch of episodes were the best. I think I enjoyed WandaVision more overall.

I really expected Walker to turn into an on going villian

Overall, I was disappointed by CAaWS. Good action but it seemed... disjointed.

Some of the rewrites probably had some of that effect.

I was thinking that too, but I think I like the anti-hero angle better. He presents a good counter-point to Rogers/Wilson's Cap. I think his alignment is closer to Baron Zemo (which is probably what we'll see more of in the near MCU future) where they have self-serving intentions but still feel what they're doing is for the greater good rather than just being out-right villains.

For what it's worth, I think Walker is much more eager to please and will be his character's folly throughout his MCU arc. I think he will be taken advantage of repeatedly to do the bidding of someone with more nefarious intentions.

Stream of consciousness review of FATWS:
  • Overall opinion: meh, better than no MCU movie/series I suppose. Maybe it will get better after watching it a 2nd/3rd time
  • Not nearly as good as WandaVision
  • About on-par with Iron Man 2, which I recently re-watched and found entertaining, but the writing was a bit of a mess as well
  • The action scenes were great. What was really unique is how they showed Sam's abilities mature between the helicopter scenes in Ep 1 & Ep 6. That type of improvement is usually shown in hand-to-hand combat films (like martial arts movies), but to see it done with a jetpack/wings was a really creative twist.
  • The slow scenes/exposition were similar to the Netflix-Marvel series. The Netflix series had a problem with being too long and trying to stretch the story out - this series had the opposite problem, where there was too much crammed into 6 episodes and none if it was satisfying
  • I thought John Walker was actually the best written character of the series, which may not be a great endorsement for the writing. His redemption scene in the finale didn't have the emotional pull it needed, but I think it made sense. Sam Wilson and Isaiah Bradley were also pretty well written
  • Disney has twice wasted the talents of Erin Kellyman (Solo & this series). She is set to star in the Willow series on Disney+ alongside Warwick Davis, so hopefully the 3rd times the charm
  • New Cap uniform is awesome. Disney is really stepping up their game in costuming between Scarlet Witch & Sam Wilson's Captain America

I must be in the minority here but I really liked the Falcon and Winter Soldier way more than Wandavision. There wasn’t anything really wrong with wandavision but it just wasn’t my thing.

Here's a reminder that Chloe Zhao is directing The Eternals, which is set to come out Nov 5. Zhao won the Academy Award for Best Director last night, and her film Nomadland brought home Best Picture and also Best Actress for Frances McDormand.

I liked the series overall better but felt they tried to cram too much in episode six, and probably paced episode 5 too slowly. Episodes 3 and 4 were extremely good.

I suppose the title change just reflects how they just short changed Bucky in episode six. He crossed off his redemption list, why is he still the Winter Soldier? How cruel is that yet Sam is now officially Captain America?

I enjoyed Falcon and Winter Soldier but I do agree that the last episode was not my favorite. 3-5 were very good and I felt episode 6 just tried to cram too much in. Overall a good show though. I think I would give the slight edge to Wandavision. I think that Falcon and Winter Soldier will be more enjoyable to rewatch though.

I found the entire FatWS series terribly boring. The plotlines didn't really interest me. The characters felt one dimensional and boring, and I didn't care about any of them. Some cool action scenes, I guess.

Baron Zemo was a highlight.

Power Broker reveal was too on the nose.

I'll still watch all the content Marvel pumps out.

Your mileage may vary.

FatWS was like Civil War to me I guess. Lots of action, Zemo, and some just ok writing. It will grow on me as I re-watch it more over the years. WandaVision was better and is still so freaking cool.

So MCU is done until June and Loki right? I have high hopes that will be much more like WandaVision.

Correct, ep 1 of Loki comes out June 11.

A Marvel Studios VP has said that Loki is the most likely show to get multiple seasons. It was also worth noting that when FATWS was submitted for Emmy nominations they entered in the Drama category and not as a Limited Series, which leaves the door open for a second season.

WandaVision is not likely to get a second season.
