Because Jayden Nunn is a person who should be treated like a person who had made a commitment to the school and program. In no way am I saying TJ had to give him a scholarship, but ignoring the kid is a bad look.
I totally understand this, but college athletics is a business. It's not about feelings. If it was about people's feelings, Prohm would still be our coach.

College athletics is a dog eat dog world. I get it both ways. Yes, it would be nice if he called and told him. However, TJ obviously has another plan and if Nunn isn't part of it, why waste the time? TJ has to worry about ISU and TJ, not Nunn. It's Nunns responsibility to worry about himself. Sounds harsh, but it's the truth.
Its a 10 minute phone call dude. Come on.

We certainly don't have the whole story. It is quite conceivable that TJ's interest (or lack thereof) has been communicated indirectly. Otherwise, this is a really hasty move on Nunn's part.
Its quite possible that TJ never called, and instead it was Robinson, and the kid wanted more special attention similar to what Hunter received. None of us know anything, but every and I do mean almost every former player who played under TJ at ISU loved him. I don't think he goes out of his way to Bob Knight his players.

I agree the world is tough. It's just good to see the true colors come out right out of the gate so a few years from now we can come back here to show that "he's such a great guy" just isn't the case. The "great guy" would have taken a 5 minute call to a young man to give him the let down. I get it, TJ has more important stuff to do to clean up Prohm's ********.
Pretty sure Campbell did the same thing with some of Rhoads recruits.

There's a big difference between only caring about people's feelings and having even the smallest amount of empathy for a ******* high school kid who committed to the program and thinking you should personally tell them you think it's best for both to go in different directions.

I'm sorry but I can't think of any good reasons not to contact a commit to let them know what's up. If you're a recruiter, how you deal with potential players and their coaches is everything. You might be back at that school to look at someone else in a year or two.

It just seems like an unforced error to me.

Did he? So he didn’t contact commits and tell the scholarship was off?

Like someone said it could be that D Rob broke the news and Nunn was pissed. I still think TJ could have done it. It’s one player not 10.

People are struggling to understand you can have your guys but also not be a **** about it to the ones that committed that you don’t want.

TJ is being a **** about it? Who is to say he wasn’t going to reach out later today or tomorrow? By Nunn tweeting the timing puts TJ in the bad light no matter what and furthermore puts the staff in a no win if they try to clear any air publicly as you would be arguing against a 18 year old.

So let's say he calls him and Otz says something that comes across as wrong to him? It gives Nunn more negative things to say about ISU. Sometimes you just have to cut your losses. Don't get me wrong, I think the best thing would have been to say something to the kid. However, I don't know Otz's plan. There is obviously a reason. People do things that are wrong all the time, not because they are ********, but because they have higher priorities.

If the answer is somewhere in the middle, here's my baseless speculation:

TJ very well could've told him he'll reach out this weekend. Nunn didn't like how long it was taking, or saw the writing on the wall with Hunter and Lipsey, and made the announcement.

It’s been, what, 5 days? How long should it take to contact about a dozen players and commits?

Where's the cut off line? 3 or 4 players? If it's not his priority, then he's not gonna waste time. Simply as that.

Because in 3 years when they have a 5 star we want their coach will be like nah that dude couldnt be bothered to do the bare minimum for my guy.
I’d be willing to bet the same people that think there’s nothing bad about this move and that coaching is cut throat are the same people that talk about Campbell and 5 star culture.
