I should have added that we knew it wasn't from kissing, but that's the nickname of the disease and what older sister doesn't like to tease a younger brother in front of friends?I can tell you from personal experience that kissing is NOT required to get mono (I had it in high school). More likely for me was a shared cup or something, but I was the only one in my circle of friends that got mono.
Whatever happens won't stop the "I told you so" replies, at least for a while. Sigh.
I logged on this morning to a real mess. At 2pm I think I finally finished everything about it until the meeting at noon tomorrow. Just put together a timeline of my involvement and actions that I sent to the Technical Delivery Manager.
Once again, there were indications of a problem and no one involved the correct people. I was sent an email at 5:30am mentioning some strange messages that had started several hours earlier. I started looking into it at 7:30 when I read the email. The real problem started at about 8:39am Tuesday and just manifested itself into a major incident over the next 24 hours

I want to get the shot. Needle phobia is a *****.
I know I need it. I want to get it. The physical reaction when I think about the process isn't good.
Weird stuff.
Well not only was he the governor of the state I live in, but he was also the mayor of the city I live in.
I still remember rolling out of bed that morning and hearing that Ventura had been elected governor and thinking I should probably go back to bed because this has to be one of those really weird but really life-like dreams.

I have no idea where or how. We don’t go anywhere and then have a mask on when outside. Thing takes like 2 months to incubate so I can’t remember where I was.
In the interest of not inflaming your phobia I will not relate my story of my son getting his HPV shot on Monday.
My 3 year old handles needles like a champ. They once had to do a blood draw and he just sat still and watched the whole thing, not a peep. My older two, on the other hand, require an extra nurse or two to hold them down for a routine flu shot or other vaccine. It took nearly an hour to wrestle my oldest down for a nurse to give him an IV. We have the whole spectrum of needle tolerance in our family apparently.
All this mono and needle talk is giving me a bad flashback. Had mono in 1st grade. Doctor thought it was rheumatic fever so had to be dragged down to the med lab where they did blood draws and throat swabs, seemed daily. Needles, man. And, because rheumatic fever is serious stuff, my mother was under direction to keep me still and inactive. So much fun for 6 year old me being told to lie on the couch for over a week. "I feel fine, I wanta play!" "Be still!"
My mom had rheumatic fever 3 times. Why her valves went bad. It is a bad disease.
Never had a problem with the boy and needles. But when I saw that nurse mercilessly plunge that needle in and slam the plunger home I thought, "That HAD to hurt." He didn't say a word until she left the room but then he commented that she went really deep and he thought she hit bone or his shoulder joint. It's not like he has much meat on his bones. I have no doubt it hurt since I winced when she did it. I think nurses should think about how they are giving shots a little bit. Just a little bit of care can be the difference between a little discomfort and being sore for a week.
