It’s going to take years. Quite frankly there are only 3 players on this team that would be in the rotation (Top 9) for a NCAA Tournament squad. If any of those three transfer then you have to start completely from nothing. It’s a minimum 2-3 year rebuild at this point.

Who are the 3 you have in mind? Going by your numbers, my 3 are Bolton, Solo, and JCL, but obviously this is quite subjective.

Agree, depletion and Big 12 is loaded and reloading. The path will be hard for quite some time.

That’s a pretty ridiculously definitive statement. Ye have far too little faith.

I agree about our talent level. but a good coach can quickly rebuild a basketball program. In college basketball a couple key recruits can immediately change a team. We’ve seen it happen here with our previous coach.

Funny how the talking point at the start of the Prohm era was that Fred left the cupboard empty. We’re about to see what a real empty cupboard looks like for whoever tries to clean up this mess.

Everyone whoever used that talking point was a complete moron. Prohm was handed a great team, which rarely ever happens in college basketball. I always thought it was hilarious listening to fans try to blame it on the quality of the 9th and 10th guy on the bench when Prohm took over. Talk about first world problems.

I'm lacking the energy to do the research myself, but I bet you could go back over the last 5 years and you could not find a new coaching hire who was handed a better situation than Steve.

He had all kinds of talent with which to keep the momentum going long enough to restock the talent pool. I can appreciate that Fred left a little to be desired in terms of underclassmen, but for the first 2 years he didn't have to worry about talent and he should have been able to recruit some guys capable of keeping the ball rolling.

I could make the argument that he did fine bringing in talent to replace Fred’s players. Wigginton, Lard, Malou before things got weird, Tyrese, THT, Bolton, Foster.

It was his roster management after those guys got here that he ultimately failed at, and why we’re here

I thought last night was a case of them having energy and playing ok for the first half but once KU came out and extended the lead, ISU just kind of gave up. Big difference as well was they shot well from 3 and ISU didn't so the score was probably a little more lopsided than on average it would be. But still bad I saw it was the first time in the history of the series that KU has won by 20 or more for three straight games.

The problem is too many complete whiffs on the recruiting front both HS and transfer.

I got KU -20 at about the 14 minute mark or so (if memory serves me correct). You could just tell they were defeated and had gone into chucking up contested 25 footer mode and it was about to get ugly.

You’re always going to have misses in the recruiting/transfer game (Fred had SDW, Sledge, Bluford, and so on). The guys I listed should’ve been a good enough foundation, but it was when they left early or didn’t pan out that Steve didn’t seem to have a backup plan.
