Agree, and the thing is, this kind of play has been here with every team since Hoiberg’s players left. Look at the talent the 2018 team had. THT and Tyrese are playing incredible in the NBA, Marial Shayok was an elite scorer, Lindell Wigginton was the highest rated recruit in Iowa State history, and that team loses first round to an 11 seed Ohio State team. I knew then that Prohm wasn’t the guy
That team underachieved so much for all the talent on the roster. That team was oozing with potential.
Because Mike kept breaking the law, duh.
I posted a poll on twitter and restated many of the points I made here. Would love to see what a wider section of the fanbase thinks about this.

There wasn't a sane person in the ISU fan base or affiliated with the university that thought any of those guys would be around when Morgan got run. That's complete revisionist history.
And I remember the sideline incident in CF very well. It was 100% instigated by McDermott. He called Homan a gorilla after a hard but clean foul and Wayne was sticking up for our guys. i never understood why Morgan got so much flack for that while Chewey pretty much got a free pass.. That was one of the reasons I never liked McDermott getting the ISU job and I wouldn't blame Morgan at all for being pissed about the way the whole thing was handled. McDermott beat UNI once while he was here and he was almost in tears afterward because he felt bad for UNI. He never seemed like he wanted to he here to me, but he sure enjoyed cashing the checks.
Greg got a pass for a lot of things. In regard to your last sentence....one rumor I heard is he never really was a fan of ISU and the only reason he took the job(outside of the money)was so his son could play with Harrison and crew. So more than likely he was gone soon after Doug graduated. Just so happened Creighton opened up at that very moment and hmmmmmmmmm............Jacobsen let Doug out of his commitment. Funny how the only place Doug WOULDN'T play for dad is..............Iowa State University. Hmmmmmmmmmm...............!

You know, for as awful as these last two seasons for ISU have been, and for as much as this really does need to be Steve Prohm's last season here, I am starting to see some white washing and revisionist history of the Greg McDermott era here, and that needs to be pushed back on aggressively.
We need to be very clear about this; for whatever success Greg McDermott previously had at UNI (and as a UNI grad and dual ISU/UNI fan, I can totally appreciate how he built the program up during his time there) and for whatever success he is currently having with Creighton, the fact is that he absolutely, positively f*cking sucked for Iowa State. 4 losing seasons, a 4-year Big 12 conference record of 18-46, no Big 12 tournament wins, no NCAA tournaments (or any kind of postseason tournaments of any kind). Say what you will about Steve Prohm; his program has fallen off a cliff and there is no hope currently for any kind of meaningful turnaround. And I hate writing that, but it is what it is.
But FFS, don't make things for this team, coach, and program worse than they currently are by trying to make Greg McDermott's time here look like anything other then the disaster it was.

I don't know about that rumor, but I do know for a fact (since I saw him with my own two eyes) that he went down to Oklahoma City to cheer on UNI in the NCAA tournament down there back in 2010, which ended up being his last season at ISU. He came to the pre-game pep rally before the 1st round game and shook my hand. I did notice he was specifically not wearing UNI colors or clothes.
I didn't think much about it at the time or let it bother me, since I am a dual fan and I knew he was still close with Jacobson and had recruited that senior class for UNI. I did have big problems later on when he poached his son away from UNI.
This. It was a dark time in bball history. The guy could not manage Big 12 personalities, ala Wesley Johnson.
And why do you think it's being done? Could it be that T.J. was GMAC'S lead recruiter during this disaster, and this history needs to be cleaned up........... "re-imagined"? I like you agree that maybe Steve's time has come and gone.....okay, then why all of a sudden the white washing of GMAC and down playing of Steve's good years? I mean, GMAC is not coming back is he?
The downplaying of Steve's good years began right away with his first year, which was a good year by historical ISU standards.
And IMO, and at this point I'm over the "dumb" reactions or whatever else I'll get for it, that downplaying of his good years is pretty much all about who he's not. I've written it before, and I'll write it again; there is a vocal minority of posters/fans who were bound and determined to never give him a chance in the first place because they were (and maybe still are) unable to get over Fred leaving here.
McDermott's wife also had cancer with a pretty grim outlook at the time (she beat it thank God) so a lot of what he did in that off-season was financially motivated to make sure his family would be taken care of. He interviewed for K-State on his way back from Dayton after UNI lost in the tournament and had several others scheduled when the Iowa State offer was made.
It just didn't work. There was no malice or anything, Greg just wasn't quite ready at that point which every UNI fan could have told you at the time. In the end, it worked out for everybody (except UNI)...

I agree and have written also about those wanting Steve fired the day after he was hired. But this is different. Because pretty much everyone is in agreement Steve's time has probably come and gone. So why keep up throwing dirt on Steve's good years at Iowa State ALONG with like you said the white washing of GMAC'S tenure? IMO what's happening now has nothing to do with Fred.
Which was complete bs. I went to a few of their high school games that year and anyone with half a brain could see Doug was also a high level division 1 talent. The couple games I saw at Wells Fargo he looked like a better all around basketball player than Barnes, while Barnes had more athleticism.
I think that there is enough frustration and anger out there right now with the program that some posters are openly being a$$holes and making it personal. That's why we're getting threads about starting up a website or not called FireSteveProhm.com, even though that's pretty much what this site is right now, although by a different name.
But again, I don't really know how much of this is new. I've been reading snarky posts about Steve Prohm licking his lips on the sidelines for at least a couple of years now.
