During the Great Depression, Clemson started a donor program called I.P.T.A.Y. - which stands for I Pay Ten A Year. That was their exact goal, to get as many people as you can involved and invested without having to break the bank.
I remember around the time of Campbell's last extension that I saw a report on average price for a season ticket (including donation) at all FBS and ISU was a huge value compared to our football peers. I can't find the report now but we were near the bottom of the conference and I remember thinking at the time that if we were going to need to raise money to support program success then that was an obvious place to start.
I don't mean to insult your giving. But $500 is small tier. Mid tier would be at least $1000 minimum. I agree with you in that we should take the Bernie Sanders fundraising model looking for tons of small donors
Yeah I’m going to completely disagree. Captains on up are your big donors. Gold and Cardinal are your mid tier donors. States and below are your small donors. Your mentality is the type that doesn’t cultivate young donors.
I’m extremely fortunate in life and can afford that as a recent grad. Most grads can’t afford that until say 10 years after graduation.
You want to incentivize people to move up from the upper mid tier and to get people to start to donate the small amounts. You already have the incentives to get up into that mid tier. If you raise some of that mid tier stuff people are going to decide they won’t ever get here. And it will really hurt the low and young donors.
I’ve watched the Cyclones in all the old Big 8 stadiums & all the Big 12 except TT & Baylor. It is humbling just to view the obvious advantage in Major Donor skybox revenue exists south of Kansas City. We are the 3rd largest stadium in the B12 seating but we will not have major donors as a source due to the split of a small pie with our Hawkeye friends. If we realistically expect to be competitive long term in the top 15, it will take everybody stepping up at more than a $20 per ticket approach from my observation.
My opinion, Campbell will stay with the same pay for the next year (because of Covid). If we are allowed to have all fans back in JTS this fall. I predict sell out for 90% of the games, maybe more which will bring a big jump in salary and extension for the 2022 season along with all his assistants.
This may annoy folks, but the minimum donation level for any parking pass should probably jump to $500 with paved starting at $750-$1000. People can't talk about paying the coach without raising more revenue.

Remember that 40-50% of the season ticket holder deferred their 2020 tickets to next year which will decrease revenue drastically.
Yup. So it is hard to think that there will not be some additional expectations for NEW season ticket purchases for next season.
And if that bridge gets built, I assume parking costs will go up.
They should increase ticket prices for all tickets by $10 a game. If things go well next year, theres no reason not to expect a sell out or near sell out for every game. A high quality product justifies a higher cost anyway. if we do this it's an extra $3,690,000 just in ticket sales. if the 45,000+ season ticket holders from 2019 each donate $10 more per seat it's an extra $450,000 dollars. It's a small increase, but the product on the field is becoming worth more money.
I want to add to what I already said. My understanding is there are no wait lists on suits but there are for club seats. Same concept on parking. It’s about finding the current choke points and incentivizing people past them.
I also think we want to focus on incentivizing recent graduates. Come up with ways to encourage them to start donating. With our recent enrollment growth I think it is essential to take advantage of the new blood.
I’m with you on this. Plus I think Pollard needs to get creative to get people to donate $100, $250, or $500. Right now, there is almost no incentive to donate at any level below $500 for a first time donor. Create some perks to incentivize people to start donating at those lower levels.
Do those 45k season tickets include the student and Jr cyclone tickets? Because those wont go up that much no matter what.
I think the current incentive to donate at least $250 is that is the minimum donation to buy a parking pass.
Maybe the first-time donor gets a free parking pass or something like that. I suppose some public lot can become a donor lot for those folks. I really like the idea to give incentives for first-time donors, and I would not be surprised to see a number of "perks" being part of all donor levels going forward.
I am encouraged to watch this discussion on how to take the step necessary to compete consistently with the top programs financially. It appears as eastern Iowa ages and Des Moines grows that ISU has come up to the U of I level for financial support & bodies in the seats. But just to catch up with the Texas & Oklahoma schools is a different realm. T. Boone Pickens gave $260M for the stadium expansion & $652M up to his death to OSU ath dept & they still are 2nd banana to OU. CMC is our chance & it is going to take some serious financial magic by JP to make it happen. And from his past accomplishments, I think he is up to the task.
