Wrestle Offs

Judge beats Stotts 4-2 in SV2. Stotts was the aggressor most the match, but really just dove in on singles and held on for dear life. Needs to set up other shots or keep moving when he gets in on a single. Judge got aggressive in SV2 after he got hit for stalling. Can hit those moves earlier in the match

Anyone know if David is still nursing knee thing? I saw he had it all wrapped up during his match. Didn’t seem to hinder him much though.

Wow... Coleman did look good today. Hungry too. I would love it if he broke out this season.

I was just impressed with how big Marcus looked. He looked the part of a 197 and just seemed in control the entire time. It will be very interesting to see how the match plays out between him and Yonger. Yonger is quicker on his feet, but Marcus will have the mat wrestling advantage (although Yonger is improving here quickly)

Who impressed you the most today?
I was impressed by Battani (upset of the night for me), Bastida, Robinson (excited for him to learn from Degen), Terukina (this kid's slick) as well as the predictable guys like Parker, Carr, Broderson, etc.

I'm wondering how healthy Gomez is and if he can really hold 133. He might have to wait for Parker to finish up his career. I'm also excited to see how Coleman v Bastida turns out. I'd pay to watch that wrestle off.

The future is bright and this year will be a ton of fun if we can avoid COVID & injury. Go Cyclones & Merry Christmas!

Not sure we want anyone learning from Degen...LOL! JK, Jarrett is as tough as they come. Yes, the future is bright, and our staff is showing the ability to recruit and help guys that work hard make gains. With this year's senior class (Parker, Degen, Gremmel, Colbray, Mackall) having another year, we could be really, really good in 2021-2022. Not sure all of those guys will take the extra year, some may be ready to let their bodies heal and move on in life. We are definitely building markedly better depth than the previous era, and I think if Gomez is healthy and we keep some of that senior class for 1 more, we can be a Top 4 team. I could also see Parker going up to 149 and Robinson to 157 and Carr to 165, which would help with the log jam at 125/133/141. Regardless, it's just good to have so much interest in ISU wrestling.

T&Ps to Gomez. That really sucks.

I wanted to ask about this in the thread about that but if didnt seem appropriate. What do we know about that Redding kid? Can Todd get back down there? I thought he had some trouble maintaining the weight last year but maybe I am misremembering

My gut feeling is that we will have a pretty good wrestler in Redding. I don’t know if he’s ready for that jump just yet so I wonder how much mat time he will see this year in the duals.
