Wrestle Offs

Look like Broderson will most likely be the man at 174. So i see the Lineup to look something like this:

125 - Mackall - Backup Reeves/Cabanban
133 - Gomez or Attasuov
141 - Parker - Backup Small
149 - Degen - Backup ?
157 - Carr - Backup ?
165 - Stotts
174 - Broderson
184 - Colbray - Backup Shapiro
197 - Coleman or Bastida
Hwt - Gremmel backup duggan

TOM
125 - #12
133 - ???
141 - #8
149 - #6
157 - #3
165 - ???
174 - ???
184 - ???
197 - ???
Hwt - #9

Gomez not included in TOM's early rankings at 133 but can't see him not being a top-10 guy. Colbray not included at 184, but ranked #10 at 174. Not sure where he'll be slotted at 184, assume he'd be close to that top-10 range. That would make 6 solid top-10 guys. Nice lineup.

And, Mackall bumps to #10 with the Ivy League guys not wrestling. Parker to #7, and should’ve jumped Demas too. Could be as high as #5. Colbray would be close at 184, probably #11 or 12. Gremmel to #8.

So hard to project for Bastida at 197, but I find it hard to believe he wouldn’t be at least a top-20 guy. And if he’s not, Coleman probably would be.

How is that suppose to happen with 12 duals? Assuming they don’t get cancelled. I don’t think there will be many or any tournament opportunities this year. You have to give the starters as much mat time as possible prior to big 12s. It will be interesting to see how NCAA qualifiers are determined this year.
I thought this same thing. But like whizzer said, I think they are going to get as many guys on the mat one way or another. I think it’s telling on the seating map for this year they have two mats out there, not just one like normal.

No way Ian is down at 8. He will end much higher on the podium than that, assuming we get to that point.

Wittlake (OSU) and Cook (SDSU) will be the top 2 with Wittlake distancing himself I would assume. The rest of the conference at 165 will be toss up matches like its been the last few years. Fogarty (NDSU) and Meneweather (AF) both graduated.
Wittlake will be in title contention. That kid is an absolute stud. This is assuming Oklahoma state doesn’t make him regress. Why do I feel like that has happened lately with some of their middle weights? Maybe that’s an unfair statement. Regardless the kid is going to be great these next couple seasons.

It would be awesome if they were able to stream the wrestle-offs.

I keep wondering if the CRTC staff will jump on the bandwagon and organize some PPV live streams of exhibition matches for our guys to see some action and maybe try generating a little revenue, much like PSU, WI, Iowa, etc. have been doing.

Set the wrestling room or the Barn or something up as a small streaming venue. Hell, WI seems to partner with High Schools to use their facilities, set up youth matches alongside the big names (nice recruiting tool), and get sponsors for it all.

That said, I have no idea what the upfront and operating costs of such an undertaking might be. I know logistically it would be a fair bit of work.

149 is going to be tough too. Yianni isn't listed on all the rankings yet. Just praying Jarrett's shoulder holds up this season. If not, I don't think there is anything else that can be done for him.
Ian should be higher.

No Ivy's this season, so no Yianni.

49, 74, and 97 are the matches I'm most interested in just to see where some of the young/new guys are at.

Those should be some good ones to watch.

I suppose Gomez, Colbray, and Coleman will potentially wrestle-off with the winners of their respective weight classes at some point. Those should be interesting too. I assume those guys are nursing injuries?

The only thing that stands out to me is the Reeves loss. Of course I was hoping with another year under his belt he’d be competitive with Mackall. He may be the fourth man at the weight when Kysen returns.

Yeah that was the only one I considered surprising. Cabanban has been solid in opens, but Reeves was a high-level recruit. Maybe he’s still too undersized right now?

Hopefully Knopick can hold 125 when he gets here.
