For most of my 24 years of ISU fandom 8-1 in conference isn't even something I would have thought of.

I would think of a Big 12 championship back in the old Big 12 divisions like maybe we could win the North at 4-4 or 5-3 and get an upset in the title game. 8-1 or even 7-1 wouldn't have even seemed like a possibility.

Or when we figured a winning/bowl season could happen in the seasons where we avoided Texas and Oklahoma.
Now we just go ahead and beat them both.

I wonder how many Big 12 title games this team would have made in those down North division years.

The path to the title is much harder now whether it was winning the round robin (which we just did) or finishing in top 2 of round robin and winning a rematch title game.

There's no way this team would have gone 0-3 in a regular 3 game non conference.

We're effectively looking at a 10-2 or 9-3 caliber regular season which is incredible.

The fact that we can theoretically break our all time single season wins record in a SHORTENED season is nuts.
