We love Camel Up.

Also Carcassonne is fantastic.

I'll throw my hat in for Villainous as well. Great game and would be my top choice for a recommendation for family present.

Dead of Winter is ok - just too much down time in between turns for several of my family members so it rarely gets played with more than 2 players.

Other games I'd highly recommend:
* Stone Age (great worker placement game)
* When I Dream (great "party" type game)
* King of Tokyo (Replace with King of New York if you have older kids and/or players who want more complexity)
* Small World
* Sheriff of Nottingham
* Sushi Go! (filler game)
* Any of the Fluxx games (filler game)

I've had my eye on this one.

Horrified is fun and would recommend.

I can second a lot of games previously named. A good one that hasn't been named is Azul.

Azul is a great "intro" game, but kind of flamed out for me and my family after several plays

I agree on King of Tokyo, Dead of Winter and Pandemic although the latter two may be tougher for the younger kids.

Some others are: Forbidden Island and the similar Forbidden Desert. These are pretty simple cooperative games that are good if you have younger kids playing.

Others to try: Castle Panic and Labyrinth.

We play Codenames, Incan Gold, Roll for It, Strike a Pose, and Play Nine with grandkids ranging in age from 6 to 25. Adults and older granddaughters have as much fun as the younger ones.

Several older games that may/may not be easy for the youngest ones are Mille Bornes (max 4 players), Chronology, and Wits & Wagers.

Also Carcassonne is fantastic.

I've been adding a bunch of games to my collection over the past year. Just picked up Azul a couple days ago and really like it.

Splendor is a really good one and simple to learn. Good for 2 people or a small group.

Euphoria is one of my favorites.

Spice Road is a lot of fun and pretty easy to learn.

Another one that is more complicated but has been a hot for us is Architects of the West Kingdom

Kingdom Builder is fun and is pretty cheap a lot of times.

Azul - simple to pick up but plenty of depth and replayability. Has two more complicated stand-alone versions (stained glass of Sintra and Pavilion of something), but start with the original.
Splendor - also simple but tons to do.

Those are two of our most played games. Unfortunately they're only 4-5 players each, though.

Other fairly simple and enjoyable games for families:
Bohnanza - great card game about trading.
Machi Koro - city builder card game that's fun but sort of repetitive.
Reef - Pretty board game that's simple and I believe can be played with 6 players.
King of Tokyo / New York - Both games are simple enough for families, and for 4-5 players.
Sagrada - Dice game for 4 players - pretty simple to setup.
Parks - Neat game about visiting the U.S. National Parks. 5 players.

More complicated board games:
Wingspan - We love this game. Get the European expansion. Four players.
Photosynthesis - Planting and growing trees for points. Only for four players.

A couple of our favorite games picked up during overseas travel, from probably 20+ years ago. Doubt if they're available locally but the internet makes it so much easier now!
Hare & Tortoise
Outrage

Outrage may be a little bit complicated for young kids but you can play as teams. Hare & Tortoise sounds like a kids' game on the surface, but it's strategy based and fun for adults as well.
