Time to pay the man

How soon will Randy(ace reporter) ask him about taking another job?

Covid complicates the finances. Campbell will make more money than he'll ever need at Iowa State, but schools like Michigan will always be able to offer more. It just is what it is; hopefully he likes being at Iowa State and wants to stay here for the long haul. He's already turned down other programs in the past.

Didn’t the staff take a pay cut? Either way you pay him what he wants to be paid, even if you need to drop some olympic sports to do so, which were on the fringe anyways.

If CMC leaves, it won't be because of money. I just don't sense the money is all that important to him. He is building something great in Ames. I just don't see him leaving unless it is ND or OSU. Neither of those jobs are opening up anytime soon.

In the time of Covid, I'm not sure how much JP can offer CMC? But I'm sure JP will do what he can without bankrupting the program.... and if that isn't enough for CMC, then so be it.

CMC always comes across as someone who doesn't care about the money (but that could just be a facade?).

I feel like he won't leave here until he accomplishes his goals here, but who knows? And I don't know ultimately what his goals are at ISU either? If it's a Big 12 title..... that could happen this year.... and then he could be off to Michigan, who knows?

Basically every coach in the country is taking a pay cut this year.

Except Iowa’s. They got bigger raises than the cuts they received so they are making marginally more than last year. They cut several Olympic sports to pay for it.
Really? I remember a story saving the 3 sports that they dropped will only save them 1-2 million a year.
