Will he be the fourth QB taken? Would be a good second round pick for the Vikes if he's there.
We don't have a 2nd round pick. Traded it for Yannick, or whatever his name is, and then traded him away weeks later. Cousins still has two years after this one so don't count on drafting a QB this year.

Green bay has had TWO quarterbacks in the last 30 years. Minnesota hasn't had a franchise guy in... hell I don't even know. Stop bringing in veterans on 2-3 year deals and draft an actual franchise QB. But get rid of Spielman first otherwise we will take a 5th round guy in the first round... again!

Not that it matters who is the QB. When you're o-line is that bad it's gonna be hard for anyone to succeed. Trade up to get Lawrence and then fix the line. Trade Barr, Harris, 1st round pick and next year's 2nd rounder. That also helps the cap situation. Then trade Cousins for anything a team is willing to give up.

Losing Harris wouldn't be that bad. The draft will be loaded with talent at safety.

Cousins will be gone after next year and they'll eat the $10M dead cap.

They thought they had their franchise QB until his leg exploded in practice and they were told he had a 50/50 shot of ever playing again.

We don’t have a second round pick at the moment.

Once this team gets healthy, then has a full offseason to practice, there are less holes than some people seem to think.

If Hinton can handle one next year, that’s one less spot.

*I’d cheerfully add “trade Reiff to see how Cleveland does at LT” to the list.

I never saw Bridgewater as a franchise QB. He's a good game manager, but not quite a franchise type guy. He is way better than Christian Ponder though. But those are two first round picks down the drain, and a third was spent to trade for Bradford.

All this team needed was a good game manager, who could maybe make a big drive a couple times in the 4th quarter. Teddy could have been that guy.

I liked Bradford. He could throw a dart down field, but was basically immobile. Had he not hurt his knees every season he would be a franchise QB.

Not sure how much you get for two defensive players coming off season ending surgeries.
I just dont think you are going to get the Jets out of that #1 pick. If they are there’s going to be lots of offers to try to beat out.

Listening to KFAN, it sounds like Spielman was all set to start trimming some fat this week and basically hold a fire sale. Now after beating a severely overrated Packers team, he has changed his mind and thinks the playoffs are attainable. So here we go again.

Worst case scenario... This team needs to die so I can be put out of my misery every Sunday

Spielman apparently isn't aware that GB's run D sucks and that Jones didn't play. If Jones plays, that alone likely leads to a loss instead of a win.

The Vikings don't have a lot of assets worth trading for.

Smith is on the downside of his career.
Harris is a 10 game rental.
Rudolph is on the downside with a terrible contract.
Reiff is a 10 game rental.
Barr is done for the year.
Thielen is committing suicide with your fan base if you trade him.

The problem is it's incredibly difficult to find a franchise QB. There is a ton of luck involved. You can have the #1 pick and there is still a greater than 50% chance they don't turn out to be a true franchise QB who can be your starter for the next 10+ years.

It also takes more than just a franchise QB. Stafford and Rivers are franchise QBs and they've never sniffed the Super Bowl. The Lions can't even make the playoffs most years.

No doubt Harris and Reiff are rentals. But neither will be with the Vikes next year so they should take whatever late round picks they can get.

You still need to have takers. And urgency for them to get done before the last second. If the market says the Vikings don't have much there's no incentive for another GM to be making a call and looking desperate and driving up their acquisition cost.

It not about desperation. If there's a playoff team that needs to fill a hole because of injury or needs a veteran for the second half push, you call. The Vikings know they little to no leverage. That's why they'll move Reiff and Harris for next to nothing.
